Managing a project to build a virtual multi-user, multi-client platform.
The task comprised all planning, implementation and execution. It also included all responsibility for budget and personnel, as well as technical responsibility for design and design implementation. In addition, it involved defining and implementing the internal processes for ordering, invoicing and inventory management. It also involved preparing the required SLAs for the subsequent operation.
The whole platform was designed for around 100,000 workstations in a multi-user environment and an environment of dedicated virtual workstations. This particularly included the company’s user help desk with a total of around 35,000 workstations. In addition, VOIP telephony was implemented and routing functions concealed using Genesis products. The scope included a wide range of adaptations and new developments. In particular this involved using SAP, Oracle, Siebel, SQL databases and various Java applications, which had partly to be designed from scratch. There was a strong focus on quality assurance and break testing the developments. SCCM was used for rollout and platform management.
Two data centers were included in the consolidation, each with 2,500 servers.
An additional focus was transferring various services from different international providers over to a single strategic one aligned with ITIL standards.

Scope: Transition management and consolidation of data center locations, process improvement, application development
The client was preparing to outsource its technical locations. This included defining the appropriate processes and rules which would enable the transition to the future operating company. It also involved a focus on ITIL standards. In addition, an SLA was developed under which the future operating company would carry out the facilities management. In parallel with this, all existing computer rooms/locations were to be checked for their potential for improvement and a suitable flow chart prepared to achieve this. This also included the relevant business cases.
A process analysis was also carried out in order to optimize the internal roles and processes. As part of this, roles and responsibilities were redefined and all processes and responsibilities were agreed within the corporation.
During the course of the transition a substantial number of adaptations were required to the applications provided, which were to a significant extent Java-based and used a very wide range of databases. Because the adaptation to the live system was carried out on a modular basis, there was a key focus on quality assurance using a wide range of protocols and complying with testing guides.

The customer accomplishes a complex project for the harmonization of his IT-infrastructure. Therefore 500 servers are migrated over to Windows 2003 R2 and 16000 workstations to Windows XP. This migration is accomplished under the premises of being compatible with Microsoft Vista.

A complete risk-analysis was done. as well as an audit of the project related to budget, sourcing, Project plan and the conversion phase was accomplished. The complete documentation was revised and corrected adjusted if necessary. Furthermore corrections at the budget and at the personnel planning were recommended and also taken into place.

The customer is outsourcing his complete IT department to an external service provider.
The project included the overall monitoring and validation of the outsourcing, the acceptance of business concepts, planning and budgeting for the customer. This also comprises the coordination with the internal departments, as well as the complete control of the outsourcing partner (approx. 150 collaborators) and the creation of the roll-out planning.

In addition a user concept was developed with complex authorisation structures. It was mostly realised through the application of Group Policies.

The customer is implementing a central VoIP-system based on a Siemens HiPath 8000 for 900 banks and 100,000 users.
The project includes the overall project management, management of the project team, budget responsibility, customer communication, resource planning, roll-out planning, technical acceptances, achievement of market readiness, coordination with suppliers and external service providers.

Based on the VoIP system a central Call Centre is installed for 3,000 agents on Genesys basis. These agents are operating locally at the banks but are using the central infrastructure of the service provider. The activity is including the market research, product selection, and development of the architecture, control of the project team, roll-out planning, as well as the resource planning and budget planning.

Function: Senior Systems Architect and Project Manager

Migration of a Novell NDS environment to an Active Directory under Windows 2003. This includes a fully automated change-over of the clients (Windows 2000 Professional), as well as the development of a standardised client under Windows XP (multi-language) for application on 15,000 computers world-wide, the development and realisation of security policies. Development of a secure infrastructure according to BSI recommendations. In addition a standard kiosk PC was developed for world-wide use. The security setting was realised by use of Group Policies.
