Operations Director

Our customer is a global leading provider of telecommunications equipment and network solutions. With operations in 160 countries, the company is a leader in technology innovation, delivering superior products and business solutions to clients all over the world.

On behalf of our customer, we are currently recruiting for an Operations Director to join their projects in Uganda.

Position Title: Operations Director
Position Type: Contract
Start Date: Q4 2015
Duration: 3- 6 months rolling
Location: Kampala, Uganda

Roles and responsibilities:

General management:
- Management of the Managed Services and the contractual obligations (Customer, Network, Tower Company, others).
- Management of all key quality and improvement targets as agreed upon.
- Manage improvement and/or changes as and when required due to strategic decisions of the local OpCo and group.
- Supporting key projects (of customer) for improvements and execution thereof through the MSPs or other parties.
- Change management and vendor management for all platform operations capabilities, Ensure all changes are documented and constantly updated in CMDB.
- Ensure constant communication throughout the organization with regard to all Network Operations.
- End to End involvement and interaction of all stake holders (Enterprise, IT, Customer Operations, others, etc.) in the operations process.
- Management of department CAPEX and OPEX.
- Customer relationship management.

Network management:
- Responsible for ensuring the seamless provision of voice, data technology and other services on a 24x7x365 basis.
- Manage the Network Technologies (RAN - GSM/3G/LTE, CORE, Transport, VAS, Improvement Projects, etc), and network Facilities (Core Switches, Diesel generator, Power system, Air conditions, Fueling service).
- Drive and manage strict adherence of MS's to SLA's, KPI, and KQI's to the base levels of the Network and its improvement, and Network performance/Audit services to meet Network availability targets.
- Create a best in class Network Performance Management practices and team.
- Ensure participation in all future operational planning of the network.
- Managing any major incidents and problems.
- Support planning and managing capacity.
- Manage the spare part Repair/Return/replacement/warehouse/In-land transportation Services.

Qualifications/Skills Required:
- Telecommunications professional and 15+ years experiences.
- Experience in telecommunication Services management at a technical, management and strategic level.
- Excellent people management skills focused on development of a highly motivated and results oriented team.
- Clear and full appreciation of the roles, duties responsibilities, challenges of telecommunications in emerging markets, startup organizations and the business environment requirements in accordance with the best practices and contemporary trends.
- Experience and ability to work under tight deadlines without supervision and the ability to get the best out of teams.
- Excellent communication skills, good analytical and interpersonal skills, and working in multi-racial, cultural and disciplinary teams, as well as team building and working at supervisory and participatory levels.
