Description

*Python Developer - up to £400/day - initial 3 month contract - Plymouth*

Security Clearance: Must already hold BPSS (DS) clearance or be willing to undergo.

We have an exciting opportunity to join one of our key clients in Plymouth, who are looking for a Python Developer to assist and guide other team members where necessary as they design, create and improve new and existing products, platforms and transactions across the organisation. The successful candidate must have strong skills in Front End or Back End web developer (or both) and be ready to quickly get to work within a multi-disciplinary team of developers, designers, editors, and analysts focussed on one or more products or projects.

Key tasks and deliverables:
*Build web and mobile products to serve a variety of users' needs.
*Provide input into the design of solutions, Lead the development of new IT solutions and initiatives.
*Implement APIs for internal and external use, Build up a useful, robust automated test suite to support a Continuous Deployment environment.
*Share knowledge of tools and techniques with the wider team, both developers and non-developers.
*Take part in 2nd-line support of applications and platforms.

Essential skills and experience:
*In depth Python knowledge and skills
*A logical analytical approach to problem solving
*Proven ability to transfer knowledge successfully using clear coaching and mentoring structures.
*The applicant must also demonstrate experience in the following areas:
-Elastic search skills
-Experience of participation Agile software development projects
-Experience or familiarity with the principles of software development methodologies and tools
-Experience of working on technical projects within a team
-Full life cycle application development including
-Application design
-Analysis
-Implementation
-Software testing
-Support, maintain and document software functionality and maintain standards compliance.
*Evaluate and identify new tools and technologies for implementation
*Knowledge of the use of version control systems such as subversion or git
*Data repositories
*APIs
*HTML Front End
*Test driven development
*Application design
*Using Object-oriented Design and Analysis (OOA and OOD)
*Front End graphical user interface design
*Code analysis, code metrics and review
*Requirements analysis
