Description

Role: Solution Architect

Location: Manchester

Duration: 3 month rolling contract

Rate: £600-£700/day

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Project Solution Architecture Defines project IT e2e solution architectures and designs, including architecture requirements, comparison of solution options and with alignment to roadmaps, policies and standards. Includes sign-off. Leads the delivery of the e2e solution ensuring business outcomes are achieved and acts as the escalation point for all technical issues
  • Project Design Authority- Accountable IT design authority for a change project, with full lifecycle responsibility for the architectural and design integrity (and mitigation of risks) of the delivered solution, with focus on NFRs
  • Policy & Standards - Informs definition of roadmaps, policies and standards through the precedent set in solution designs. Responsible for contributing delivery and publication of architecture manual
  • Architecture Community Active member of the architecture and technical communities to ensure joined up ways of working and sharing of knowledge and experience across the broader community. Responsible for the provision of knowledge share, communications and Intranet, and specialist forums (with internal and external insight). Responsible for the development of the engagement by IT research partners and the Executive Board. Coordinates analyst engagement, benchmarking, research partner events and specialist forums.


KEY EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
  • Strong consulting and influencing skills, including excellent presentation skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively at senior levels, both written and oral, within the business and IT & Strategy areas.
  • A good working knowledge of architecture frameworks and models (e.g. Zachman, TOGAF)
  • Experience of large scale (£3M) projects with significant integration challenges. Good understanding of integration approaches and technologies
  • Good experience of at least one technical architecture discipline (application, data or infrastructure), some knowledge of others
  • A good working knowledge of development processes (e.g. RAD, Agile, RUP), including testing approaches and methods
  • Experience in senior roles on major application development, systems integration or infrastructure projects (e.g. application architect, technical architect, lead designer, lead developer)
  • Wide-ranging of developing software and/or building infrastructure components on medium to large-scale distributed projects
