Description

Role and Responsibilities
  • Support the Customer Operations Business Unit with the goal to become a top performer in the nation in customer satisfaction.
  • The IT Applications Consultant (Developer/Programmer) is primarily responsible for maintaining the current applications for field operations and asset management related applications.
  • Duties include designing, coding, testing and supporting enhancements to these applications. Working with our internal clients and delivering technical solutions is of critical importance.
  • The developer will work closely with software vendors, other application developers, database administrators, and OS administrators to implement changes.
  • Other duties may include software configuration, software upgrades, technical documentation, and project management.
  • Successful candidate will work with the existing staff to acquire the necessary skills to support the application or the application's architecture.
  • Successful candidate should have proven record of developing code with long-term and short-term architecture and standards in mind.
  • On-call support will be required on a rotating basis.
  • These applications support the core of the power plants, customer operations, and facilities architectural drawing applications and tool sets. Also, some exposure to both gas and electric asset management applications.

Qualifications and Education Requirements
  • Candidates must possess a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems or a related discipline.
  • Candidates must have experience or training in SQL and relational databases like Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle, and must be familiar with Visual Studio, .NET C#, and JavaScript.
  • Candidates should have a proven track record with specific examples of being an independent and quick learner.
  • They should demonstrate problem solving skills and the ability to speak with clients using business terms.
  • They should be able to collaborate with clients and with internal IT resources to find solutions which meet the business need, and which are effective, accurate, and maintainable.
  • They should be able to work well independently with minimal guidance as well as in team settings.
  • Good communication skills are a must and the ability to speak with clients using business terms is desired.
  • Customer Service mentality; ability to understand a clients perspective
  • Ideal candidates will start by learning the application support for the architectural drawing applications and its associated business logic, and then they would work with various technologies to develop solid business solutions including the replacement of Legacy applications.
  • Candidates with experience in Object Oriented Programming are preferred.
  • Knowledge of the following technical skills is beneficial but not required: Client Server architecture, Windows operating system and Java.
