Description
Conduce is building a data visualization platform for real-time operational monitoring. We seek a Systems Engineering Lead to join our team. In this role, you will be the owner of our computing environments at the nuts and bolts level. You will chart our deployment strategy, build out monitoring and logging infrastructure, choose the correct combinations of hardware and software to make our services run quickly and reliably, and in general replace as much human effort as possible with very small shell scripts.This is a lead position. You will control the vertical and the horizontal of our development and production environment and will be part of our technology leadership team. As such, the strong expectation is that you can take a set of goals and guiding principles and forge specific plans and work requirements.
Our environment at present:
- Individual services are built as Docker images and written using Python, D and Clojure
- We use Kubernetes to manage running containers
- We run on AWS, but aren’t tied to it in any contractual or philosophical way
Skills & Requirements
Conduce evaluates candidates on potential, not a list of skills. That said, we’re paying attention if you have experience with:
- Linux
- Running containerized applications
- AWS or similar
- Managing a complex build
- Monitoring
- Networking
- Security
- Production Deployments
- Kubernetes
An exceptional candidate will also have:
- Scripting experience with Python or similar
- Pragmatism as opposed to dogma
- Understanding of resource management
- Distributed systems experience
- Experience running a public service at scale
