Description

We are currently recruiting for a Buyer to join a market-leading Aerospace and Defence company for a position based in Bristol.

Main Purpose of the Role:

Raising PO's for our sites in Bristol and Harwell for:

  • Indirect spend - IT (software, hardware, licencing), general business equipment
  • Direct spend - MRO, machined parts, cleanroom equipment, test equipment, general engineering products, general services
  • Role will include sourcing and negotiating with suppliers and managing contracts ranging up to 50K to ensure purchasing packages are executed in accordance with technical, program, cost and performance (quality and delivery) requirements
  • The Buyer will undertakes the commercial and contractual tasks as required, including Terms & Conditions negotiation, Purchase Contracts, Statements Of Work, Non-Disclosure Agreements

Key Responsibilities and tasks

  • Work closely with the Contracts and Legal Department to ensure contract compliance and limitation of risk to TAS-UK, especially pertaining to cost and lead time.
  • Manage supplier relationships, ensuring continuous performance improvement and implementing the necessary action plans, eg, dispute resolution, delivery time & quality improvements.
  • Carrying out on-going performance reviews and maintaining an overview of subcontractor cost, quality and schedules
  • Work to optimize the amount of spend on contract, utilizing long-term agreements with global suppliers.
  • Ensure adherence to TAS and company processes and procedures, including export regulations, ethical procurement practices, and ITAR regulations.
  • Create supplier KPIs (key performance indicators), and facilitate Supplier Business Reviews (SBR) and strategic meetings as required.
  • Prospect for new, innovative sources of supply, working to gain a competitive advantage for TAS-UK.
  • Domestic and few overseas travels may be required.

Experience and Skills

  • Mid-level purchasing and commodity experience.
  • Communication and influencing skills to build productive relationships at all levels of the business
  • Interpersonal at all organizational levels, internal and external.
  • Contract law.
  • Analytical skills
  • Experienced in using Oracle ERP systems would be an asset
  • Commercially astute with advanced negotiation skills and experience
  • Well-developed organisational skills
  • Experience in space business would be an asset

Education & Qualifications

  • Degree qualified or equivalent would be desirable
  • Experience as a commodity, procurement buyer, in a global supply chain environment.
  • High standards of numeracy and literacy
  • Intermediate knowledge of MS Office and associated software. Ability to create MS PowerPoint presentations and MS Excel databases and pivot tables. Working knowledge of ERP systems.
  • CIPS level 4 (minimum)
