Description
The Viacom Music + Entertainment Product Design Team is looking to hire a Product Designer to create design solutions for our editorial platform that supports MTV News as well as other Viacom brands like Vh1, Logo and Comedy Central. You should have strong visual design skills and a passion for user-centered design that lends itself to the creation of beautiful and engaging experiences for our users. This role's day-to-day will be focused on developing solutions with User Experience, Product and Engineering teams.
The Viacom Music + Entertainment Group consists of the brands: Comedy Central, MTV, Spike, Vh1, Logo and MTV2. This is an opportunity to create experiences used by millions of people.
Responsibilities:
- Create high fidelity mockups
- Define interaction animation details
- Collaborate with UX Design on rapid prototyping
- Follow and extend existing brand guidelines in the context of new experiences
- Small visual design tasks that may include creating icons and other visual assets, specs for developers and visual QA.
Basic Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3+ years of interactive design experience
- An online portfolio that demonstrates strong visual and interaction design skills that includes responsive websites
- Demonstrate an understanding of composition, form, shape, color, layout and typography
- Experience working with a style guide
- Experience with responsive design
- Knowledge of HTML/CSS and Javascript with bonus points for coding abilities (for prototyping purposes)
- Attention to detail
- Effective time management skills
- Ability to collaborate with different disciplines
- Working knowledge of an agile development process
This is a freelance position located at Viacom’s downtown offices in New York City’s SoHo neighborhood.
