Legal Entity Accountant/Controller, Full Qual, Audit, Process, Manchester

The role is within the UK Controllers team based in Manchester who are involved in all aspects of LE reporting including statutory financial statements, internal reporting (to management and to the Boards) and local GAAP accounting. The remit of the team is oversight, insight and communication around the legal entities assigned to them. The Manchester team work closely team members in London and offshore teams who do much of the preparatory work. The team are also responsible for managing the external audit process.
Job Purpose: (What the job role involves)
The Legal Entity Accountant is responsible for the following:
- Oversight of and contact point for assigned legal entities
- Insight into the results and dynamics of the assigned entities
- Communication of results and issues both verbally and in written form
Key responsibilities relate to the production or review of daily, monthly, quarterly and annual reports in local and US GAAP working mainly on UK banking or Investment Servicing entities.
Responsibilities: (Key parts to the job role)
- Statutory Financials
Drafting of annual financial statements for certain legal entities
Preparation of supporting schedules and liaison with auditors
Provide guidance and review work from the offshore team
- Board Reporting
Preparation and review of reports for the Board of Directors of certain legal entities
Provide guidance and review work from the offshore team
- Daily Reporting
Review of daily reporting prepared offshore (alternating with other team members)
- Monthly Reporting
Preparation/review of consolidated results to input into regulatory returns (alternating with other team members)
Oversight of results for certain legal entities over the month end close, escalate and resolve issues.
Review of variance analysis prepared offshore to provide meaningful analysis of different aspects on the legal entity financials
- Projects/other work
Members of the LEC team are involved in lots of other work such as accounting for sales and acquisitions, local GAAP adjustments, transfer pricing etc.
Preparation of misc. reports as required

Technical Skills, Knowledge, Systems Knowledge (and associated skill level)
- Qualified accountant with audit and accounts preparation experience. Strong book keeping and controls experience essential.
- Financial services and or banking experience preferred but not essential.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge, with UK GAAP/IFRS deemed essential; US GAAP exposure would also be desirable.
- Excellent computer skills, in particular Excel.
- Experience of banking systems such as IMMS highly desirable.
Academic/Professional Qualifications
- Accounting qualification (ACA/CIMA/ACCA)
