Your Responsibilities
- Teradata technical support delivered onsite including hardware & software fault resolution, software configuration & installation
- Data warehouse System Support is based on a proactive service philosophy and requires constant focus excellent service delivery. This is a very demanding and yet rewarding position.
- The successful candidate will be required to take part in 24x7 on Shift bases.
- This will involve on site presence to address incidents faults and apply preventive maintenance. Hardware installations/replacements, preventative maintenance and Hardware/Software upgrades will also be included.
- You will be the prime point of contact for Teradata server (hardware/software) issues and the owner' of all activities related Teradata Servers.
- This will involve all troubleshooting, hardware replacement, DB patches, OS patches.
- Possess experience working in Enterprise environment and understands users' need.
- Ability to efficiently multi-task and be self-motivated while working with others.
- Have a customer mindset ie able to think and react in ways that will be beneficial or cause least disruption to our customers
- Have an appreciation for good service level and customer experience, whilst having the ability to anticipate and mitigate problems
- Human relations and communications skills are important to develop and establish cooperation and rapport with users at working levels and of different nationalities
Your Merits::
- Have at least a tertiary level qualification in Technology, IT, Computer Science or hold a professional qualification from a recognized body, though extensive relevant experience may be considered in place of this
- At least 7 years working as Teradata hardware Support Engineer
- At least 3 years working with Teradata 6700C Series and Teradata 6650 series is a must.
- Hands on experience in installing and replacing hardware in Teradata nodes.
- Experience with Installation, Configuration,Troubleshooting for DB, Application and hardware on Teradata Servers.
- Expert knowledge of Teradata hardware architecture.
- Experience on Suse Linux Administration based platforms including disk array knowledge.
- Expert level knowledge of Teradata 13.0
- Good working knowledge of Linux, UNIX, both operating systems.
- Familiar with Customer Internal Network design. Interface Network design for remote/offshore support
- Cross Network/Node backup - using Netvault, Archmain, net backup design & implementation. BakBone.
- Experience in Crashdump/DumpLog analysis.
- Must be self-motivated and have the confidence to take the ownership' of Teradata Server Issues
