Description
Conduct network troubleshooting and handling of incident and problem managements as well as implement network changes as required. On call for technical escalation on a rotational basis. Primary skill sets with Cisco and Checkpoint Firewalls. Mentoring L2s for technical development. Update procedures and guidelines for implementation and management of network as they relate to defined support plans. Update network diagrams as needed. Responsible for the management of network support related to deliver performance, reliability and scalability of the network. Responsible for mentoring and cross training other members of the CBTS team in the area of expertise of the position to broaden the knowledge base within the team.
Essential Functions
- 60% - Incident management - escalation point for L2 team
- 10% - Project management
- 10% - Write, and maintain systems documentation and network diagrams.
- 10% - Using network analysis, management and performance monitoring tools to diagnose problems and determine source.
- 5% - Problem Management
- 5% - Change Management
Education
Four years of College resulting in a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
Experience/Background
6 to 7 years
Accreditation/Certification/Licenses
- Cisco Certifications CCNP a prefereed
- Cisco VPN Specialization preferred
- Cisco Security Specialization is a plus
- Juniper JNCIA or JNCIS a plus
- Juniper JNCIA-AC preferred a plus
Previous Job Experience
- Experience and expertise in Cisco LAN and WAN
- Experience using network analysis, management and performance monitoring tools to plan for growth, diagnose problems and determine source.
- Experience and expertise Juniper Netscreen Firewalls a plus
- Experience with Cisco Firewalls
- Experience and expertise Juniper Infranet Controllers a plus
- Experience and expertise Juniper Odyssey client a plus
- Experience and expertise Juniper Unified Access Control a plus
- Experience and expertise Juniper Network Security Manager a plus
- Experience with Bluecoat/Bluecat Proxy/DNS products a plus
Supervisory Responsibilities
Escalation point for L2 level technicians with on call responsibilities rotating with other L3s
Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Working knowledge of the configuration and maintenance of Firewalls, proxies, TAPs, AV Sensors, and Tipping Points
- Familiar with both open-source and commercial Sniffer products (tcpdump, ethereal)
- Excellent problem solving skills
