Core Services is home to business specialists who support the UK business and the global teams based in the UK. Its aim is to provide both the processes and framework that underpin the business and specialist expertise to support initiatives.

Role Description:

The purpose of this role is to apply his/her knowledge and personal insight in the area of external resources (ER) and professional services (PS) within the Account Procurement team and to deliver services in line with Customer expectations. The Professional Services category is made up of around 70 service providers and specialist consultancies, each providing services or resources directly, primarily for software development and implementation. The External Resource category is made up of several flexible resource providers with one strategic Managed Service Provider (MSP). The total spend for professional Services and External Resources amounts to c. £70M per annum.

Task Description:

This role will be dedicated to providing key procurement activities primarily on the account and other key clients. The key activities of this role will be to manage a variety of Professional Service and External Resource contracts.

The main deliverables of this role are:

* To negotiate cost savings on the existing contracts and ensure the best contract terms are achieved at their renewal/extension.
* To achieve Value for Money and best contractual terms on new project activities, including the drafting and management of RFP processes where applicable.
* to act as the project/client interface for all Procurement related activities.;
* As the role is often client facing, strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills are essential, along with an ability to take ownership and lead on a variety of projects.
* The ability to deliver cost savings is paramount but also to challenge the status quo in the way in which services are delivered.
* You will need an in-depth knowledge of contractual terms and conditions coupled with the ability to draft new agreements and contract change notes.
* The Purchasing Manager's role will require the production of Category Plans and Sourcing Strategies which will need to be presented to the UK Procurement team and Global Procurement team where appropriate.

Business Skills:

Mandatory business skills:

* A minimum of 3 years experience of Professional Services/External Resources Categories or demonstrable transferable skills.
* Self starter who is capable of identifying and delivering cost reduction opportunities on the above categories and driving these to a successful completion.
* A strong Value for Money focus.
* Proficient in the understanding and drafting of complex contractual terms and conditions.
* Excellent communication, stakeholder management and interpersonal skills and ability to build effective working relationships with clients, stakeholders and suppliers.
* Ability to work effectively on your own and as part of multi-disciplined teams.
* Ability to work to strict deadlines Strong negotiation skills with the ability to agree savings with a variety of difficult vendors.

Desirable business skills:

* Is able to face the business at a more senior level and add insights into the work of clients
* Resolve complicated sourcing/supplier problems as required CIPS or equal qualification
