Shift pattern: 2 weeks on/2 weeks off - 12 hours per day

The Role:
The Construction Coordinator will report to and support the Offshore Site Manager (OSM) and Deputy Offshore Site Manager (DOSM) in the management of the site establishment and works co-ordination for the Offshore Site. These works will include coordination of the construction of the Offshore Substation Platform.
The role requires experience of the management of offshore wind farm construction, including an appreciation of the Principal Contractor duties under the CDM Regulations.
The role will be based at the Principal Contractor construction coordination base in Lowestoft. Flexible working hours will be essential given the 24 hour offshore construction process, and it is expected that the construction coordinators will work a shift rotation including offshore and early/late shifts.

The Construction Coordinator will have the day to day responsibility for the coordination and management of works in the offshore site, and any works required at the construction coordination base. Reporting will be daily and weekly. There will be a requirement to attend daily and weekly meetings with the OSM/DOSM, Marine Coordinators, Permit Coordinators and all Contractors.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Coordination of offshore installation of offshore Substation with the primary focus being Health and Safety.
  • Reviewing and accepting on behalf of the PC all Risk Assessments/Method Statements (RAMS).
  • This will involve detailed understanding of the onshore/offshore construction works for an offshore wind farm and the ability to adapt and modify RAMS submissions to reflect the daily changing circumstances that can occur.
  • Supporting the Principal Contractor and Contractor construction management teams in the execution of their roles.
  • Providing defined construction reports, for inclusion in the monthly Project report.
  • Raising alerts to any perceived trends relating to HSE risks or transgressions developing onshore/offshore as they arise; eg Early Warning.
  • Instructing the Contractor to stop the Works for immediate health and safety and protection of environment reasons.
  • Promptly identify and notify on any issue that may arise or have the potential to arise during the course of the works and shall provide assistance in resolving any issues.
Knowledge and Skills:
  • Extensive experience in a similar role in offshore renewables.
  • Site Management experience, including working schedules for a Principal Contractor.
  • An excellent understanding of marine management, construction practices, heavy lifting and HV commissioning.
  • Strong Computer skills: MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent communication skills, able to communicate effectively within a team.
  • Willingness to work offshore (transfer by ship and helicopter, working at sea for several days where required).
  • Full GWO ticket.
