PCB Layout Design, Automotive, Cadence Allegro
Essential
- Substantial experience in PCB layout design using Cadence Allegro tools to design single-sided, double-sided and multi-layer, mixed technology PCBs, with an appreciation for DFM, EMC and thermal management.
- Substantial experience of working from schematic diagrams provided by hardware design engineers.
- Ability to set up electrical design constraints based on requirements provided by the Hardware Design Engineer.
- Experience of creating new CAD library parts using information from component manufacturers' data sheets.
- Good attention to detail.
- Experience of taking responsibility of the whole PCB layout process from concept through to production.
Highly Desirable
- Familiarity with IPC standards, for the generation of PCB design data and library land patterns.
- Experience of importing mechanical constraints provided by mechanical engineering team via IDF and DXF information.
- Appreciation of the design techniques required when working with BGA components eg micro-via structures.
- Experience of designing flexible and flex-rigid PCBs.
- Experience of generating ODB++ data and use of Mentor Graphics Valor software to verify.
- Understanding of the PCB fabrication process
- Generating sound PCB design concepts, translating into production ready solutions and presenting results to a high standard.
