Description

Process Author required for a globally established company in the Dorset area that is a leader in the design, manufacture, supply, support, lifetime extension and decommissioning of I&C systems for the worldwide nuclear industry. Their site in Dorset is seen as their flagship site as it produces the greatest income and is vastly expanding.

The Process Author will help design and manufacture neutron and radioactivity detection sensors for Land and Naval Systems including Nuclear Submarines, Fighting Vehicles, Army Frigates for the Navy as well as Power Stations.

The Process Author is responsible for capturing current process details and documenting them into an accessible body of work. The body of work must be delivered within a standard suite of templates and with a style guide applied consistently across all documentation. In addition the Process Author is expected to design, implement and evaluate training in the use of the new processes.

Key responsibilities/duties
* To work closely with Process Owners to capture the detail of their processes and translate them into clear, concise, accurate and digestible process documentation and associated work instructions, adhering to the format of the templates provided
* To research any potential gaps to ensure the processes work effectively as a self-consistent Business Management System

Qualifications/skills required
* Educated to a minimum of ONC/BTEC level 3 or equivalent, preferably in a Technical discipline. HNC level or higher preferred
* This role would ideally suit a Technical Author or Instructional Designer with a sound technical engineering background, for example within the nuclear, aerospace, defence or pharmaceutical industries. Experience of documenting processes, procedures and work instructions within complex safety critical environments is preferred
* Ability to demonstrate evidence of a career history performing similar work on key projects in a safety related organisation
* Ability to distinguish the important and critical aspects of processes from the less important and understand and be able to communicate why certain aspects are critical and the implications of not doing things right
* Good understanding of current learning methodologies
* Excellent people skills
* A sound process-based mindset, with a clear understanding of process-based thinking at both a conceptual/generic level, and a detailed analytical level
* Ability to conduct thorough research, with good analytical skills and the ability to synthesise information from various sources, "filling in the gaps" where necessary
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly, succinctly and effectively to people at all levels of the organisation
* Ability to make the complex simple
* Excellent active listening skills
* Experience and ability to accurately proof read
* Process disciplined with a demonstrable ability to maintain detailed and accurate records
* Familiarity with BS EN ISO 9001, AS9100 or other manufacturing industry related Quality standards preferred

The Process Author is available on a 6 - 12 month contract with possible extension. The rate will be discussed over the phone for this particular position.

The Process Author will need to be eligible for SC clearance.
