Description

This position is for a design engineer/modeler in the development of systems and components. The position is responsible for design and development of proprietary components for customer's machines (draglines, electric rope shovels, hydraulic mining shovels). Development activities include component design & development, sourcing support and support of validation.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Prepare sketches of ideas, detailed drawings, illustrations, artwork, or blueprints, using drafting instruments, paints and brushes, or computer aided design equipment.
  • Modify and refine designs, using working models, to conform with customer specifications, production limitations, or changes in design trends.
  • Coordinate the look and function of product lines. Confer with engineering, marketing, production, or sales departments, or with customers, to establish and evaluate design concepts for manufactured products.
  • Read publications, attend showings, and study competing products and design styles and motifs to obtain perspective and generate design concepts.
  • Design graphic material for use as illustration or advertising on manufactured materials and packaging or containers.
SKILLS:

Required Skills:
  • Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Two to four years experience in product design and development.
  • Pro/Engineer/Creo and FEA experience.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, team work and problem solving skills.
  • Basic knowledge of customer's product line, organization and systems including EDS, TeamCenter, and geometric tolerancing/dimensioning.
Desired Skills:
  • Background in casting, forging and fabrication design.
  • Product development experience utilizing DMEDI process.
  • Knowledge of CPPD and APQP processes.
