Description
We are looking for a Network Engineer for a long term contract position in Lawrenceville, GA.
We are looking for an experienced, individual contributor with a high degree of technical competence and expertise in the areas of network design, rollout, and management. This individual may work both with edge environments and in the datacenter as part of a team in conjunction with a Senior Network Engineer and other Network Team members. This may entail the installation and administration of Firewalls, Routers, and Switches, as well as intrusion detection and Internet activity reporting software.
Under the supervision of senior security professionals, perform configuration, maintenance and support of Cisco ASA Firewalls, Routers, and related network security infrastructure, including:
- Configuration of Firewall rule base and objects
- Configuration of system and network-related parameters
- IDS/IPS configuration, updates and tuning
- User administration and/or configuration of authentication systems
- Implementation of upgrades and enhancements
Assist Senior Network Engineers with activities for ASA Firewalls, Cisco Routers, and related network security infrastructure as directed, including:
- Hardware and software installation, upgrades and Testing
- Maintain compliance with relevant policies, procedures and standards
- Documentation of actions taken
- Adherence to change control procedures
- Monitoring and event handling, including escalation of security incidents in accordance with relevant procedures
- Contribute to product evaluations and proofs of concept
- Follow processes and procedures required in a regulated environment
- Understanding of Firewall systems, networking protocols and related network security systems
- Working knowledge of MS Office, MS Visio and MS Project
- Experience with production troubleshooting
- Ability to execute test scripts and test plans
- Intermediate problem-solving, written and communication skills
- Ability to work on projects in team setting
- Ability to communicate and work with end users with minimal computer experience
The following experience is a plus:
- Experience in Enterprise-level networks.
- Cisco ASA SM-1
- Cisco 5500 series Firewalls running IOS 8, and 9
- Cisco PVDM for SRST
- Cisco Prime
- Cisco Nexus experience a plus
- Cisco VSOM
- Solarwinds NPM, IPAM, NTA
- Extensive understanding of network cable standards and experience designing physical infrastructure for networks with 50 or more sites
- Experience with wide area fiber networks a plus.
- Strong Layer 1-3 knowledge
- Configuration and troubleshooting of Cisco Catalyst Switches and Routers including but not limited to:
- 2800, 2900, 3800, 3900 Routers running IOS 12.x and 15.x
- 2900, 3500, 3700, 6500 series Switches running IOS 12.x and 15.x
- Cisco CSM, and ASA modules for 6500 series chassis
- Cisco Nexus Line
- Cisco 5500 series Firewalls running IOS 7, 8, and 9
- Cisco SRST
- Cisco Unified Communications
- Training and certification on Cisco ASA
- Familiarity with network diagnostic tools such as Wireshark, etc. a plus.
- 2+ years of experience in Firewall administration
- CISSP or other general security related certification a plus
- Understanding of WINDOWS and UNIX environments
