Procurement/Category Manager - Buckinghamshire - up to £625 per day - 6 month contract

We are seeking a commercially focused Category Manager with strong experience in the delivery of strategic procurement in a rail or similar asset engineering environment.

You will be responsible for seeking out and securing contract and supplier arrangements to provide goods and services necessary for efficient operation of the business

Key Accountabilities
To work with internal and external stakeholders to understand future business strategies and maintain an up-to-date supply and demand plan
To collect, review, analyse and maintain all category-related and supplier performance data for particular categories, to feed in to innovative category strategies.
To develop expertise in specific aspects of category groups, and create and maintain the relevant category strategies covering all of the client s requirements.
To be responsible for day-to-day supplier relationship management for relevant specialist area.
To support the delivery of supplier innovation and other new requirements for relevant categories.
To provide day-to-day governance of spend in the relevant category areas.
To act as a day-to-day point of contact for the Category & Procurement community on all queries in the applicable specialist area.
To develop commercial strategies to better incentivise reliable supplier performance and drive supplier performance development programmes and sourcing activity effectiveness

Job Skills, Experience and Qualifications

Essential
Strategic outlook, including the ability to fully analyse options and drive delivery of recommendations.
Understanding and application of best practice supply chain management within relevant markets.
Proven experience of managing 3rd party supplier relationships as well as relationships with key internal stakeholders.
Excellent numerical, report writing and presentational skills.
Educated to degree level or equivalent professional education, or experience.

Desirable
Proven commercial track record in capital intensive, asset rich industries
Active participation in relevant industry bodies
Subject matter expertise in category and supply markets
