Role: Network EngineerLocation: Oldham
Rate: £300
My client, a major telecommunications company is seeking a Network Engineer to work onsite in Oldham for a period of between 6 and 12 months. The role will involve working as a member of the network crash team as part of a multi-disciplined incident response team.
The day to day responsibilities will include network troubleshooting, upgrading network hardware and software, managing configuration backups and creating and implementing defined trouble-shooting procedures and scripts.
The ideal candidate will have:
-5+ years of expertise in configuring, implementing, administering, and troubleshooting network infrastructure devices, including: firewalls, routers, switches, loadbalancers, and monitoring applications.
-CCNP is not a pre-requisite but the candidate must have the knowledge to design, build or manage world class networks at a CCNP competency level
-Must have solid Cisco and Juniper router and switch experience
-Must have a solid understanding of the 7 layer OSI network model
-Must have an excellent understanding of the TCP/IP protocols
-Must have a excellent understanding of routed and routing protocols
-Must have a good understanding of current LAN, WAN and data centre technologies
-Must have design or operational experience within a large enterprise, hosting network, telco or ISP
-Must have excellent communication skills
-Must be a self starter and team player
-Hold current SC clearance and are willing to undergo additional Home Office checks
Must have in depth knowledge in at least one of the following:
-OSPF or BGP (internal or external) or VRF technologies
-Data centre application networking services CSM/ACE/GSS
-Transport technologies ISDN / xDSL / MPLS / DWDM
-Capacity planning or application performance analysis
-Knowledge of large scale hosting environments
