DESCRIPTION:
Evaluates complex business requirements and models data and/or system requirements. Develops and implements business testing strategies. This position is focused on providing analytical support to drive actionable insights for all lines of business. The ideal candidate will be able to function with a great deal of independence, work collaboratively and possess advanced analytical abilities.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Evaluates complex business requirements; models data and/or system requirements; develops more complex requirements documentation.
- Support product organizations through monitoring of key financial and operational performance indicators as well as strategic initiatives
- Conducts or directs complex research to obtain information such as financial data, operational productivity, product or market profiles or business process flows.
- Based on analysis, develops reports, proposals for action or implementation plans as necessary and presents to management. Communicates with other departments as necessary
- Provide technical leadership in areas such as master data management and reference data management to reduce duplication and redundancy for core data objects
- Performs or coordinates special projects and ad hoc analysis as requested
- Gains an in depth understanding of the data sources and how they can be mined to produce meaningful operational reports.
SKILLS:
- Degree in business or technical discipline or equivalent experience
- Minimum 2 - 3 years experience in analytical roles
- Experience in P&C Insurance industry (an asset)
- Must have experience with evolution of tools and platforms related to reporting/analytics including Microsoft SharePoint, Excel, Power Pivot, Power View, BI Semantic Model, SAS, Essbase or similar database tools preferred
- Proficient in skills such as SQL, data mining, multi-dimensional models and development of cubes.
- Strong analytical, problem solving, modelling, and research skills
- Effective verbal and written communication skills for exchanging information across multiple levels of management
- Skills in object, data and/or process modelling; business value analysis;
- Demonstrated experience querying and analysing complex data sets
- Strong oral and written communication skills; presentation skills
- Experience with Property and Casualty insurance systems, Underwriting Platforms, GENIUS, SAP, IBC Regulatory Reporting and/or Claims would be an asset.
