Senior Systems Administrator

Description

My client is an international telecommunications consultancy. I am looking for a Senior System Administrator to work onsite at their client in Luxembourg, supporting the IT Security Team. This is an initial 6 month contract with the option to extend:

1. MANAGE SECURITY OPERATIONS CENTRE INFRASTRUCTURE COMPONENTS

You will be in charge of the IT infrastructure supporting the IT security operations activities. In this respect, you will have to design, implement, operate and manage the infrastructure and the relevant processes.

1.1 Design, implement the infrastructure

You will be involved in the design and implementation phases (including project management for the implementation) and Security Operations Centre Infrastructure components

1.2 Operate the infrastructure

You will perform Operating System and Application level system administration;

You will also perform system/network, configuration, monitoring, performance tuning, backups, user management, patch management, security management, system troubleshooting (incident management, problem management).

In addition, specific security engineering tasks will have to be performed such has systems hardening and implementation of measures to comply with applicable security policies such as Privileged User Access Control and Security Monitoring.

1.3 Secure the infrastructure

You will ensure that a high security level is applied to the infrastructure, including;

• Security design: risk analysis, hardening, security monitoring

• Security processes, procedures, such as assets management, vulnerability management, password management,

1.4 Take part in the service management

• You will have to take an active part in the service management, including the following tasks:

• Elaborate the service catalog, process description (the ITIL framework will be used as guidance);

• Perform processes review and improvement;

• Elaborate and maintain the documentation (configuration, operating procedures, policies);

• Regularly report on service performance and availability, through the elaboration of key performance indicators (KPI), metrics and dashboards;

• Ensure stakeholders relationship

2. PARTICIPATE IN THE DEFINITION, THE IMPROVEMENT AND THE DELIVERY OF SECURITY MONITORING SOLUTIONS

• In close relationship with the SOC analysts team:

2.1 Participate in the evaluation of security monitoring solutions

• The job holder will have to take an active part in or to lead assessments of security solutions during POCs by the following tasks:

• Design and implement tests environments,

• Select and integrate solutions,

• Design evaluation criteria, tests plans and scenarios;

• Run tests scenarios

• Draft evaluation reports

2.2 Participate in the implementation of security monitoring solutions

• Integrate the Back End activities into the project plan;

• Set up the infrastructure and deploy the solutions;

• Draft the related documents (configuration, procedures, ).

2.3 Participate in the improvement of the monitoring measures

• By sharing knowledge with security analysts on system related aspects, participate in improving correlation rules, discovery and assessment techniques and measures

3. EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• Security cleared at SECRET UE level or being in a position to become cleared.

• University degree or equivalent experience, in a relevant subject;

• Very good command of English and French (written and spoken);

• Ability to participate in meetings, good communicator;

• Strong teamwork abilities and team spirit;

• Potential to develop skills and learn new technologies;

• Autonomous, good independent problem solving experience;

• Enthusiasm and motivation to work;

• Ability to manage parallel tasks;

• Natural will to report and document accurately during the activities;

• Strong experience in systems and network administration

• Experience with hardening systems security;

• Mastering Scripting languages (Perl, powershell);

• Strong knowledge ITIL V3 methodology.
