DOM International Limited is an established food import and logistics company, specializing in seafood. We have an excellent track record for growth in the North American foodservice industry and are currently seeking a Product Developer to continue our brand growth. Key responsibilities include developing and commercializing new products, as well as creating and writing recipes.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with QA, Sales, and Marketing to develop new seafood products, as per customer requests, regulations, marketing direction, or other source
  • Develop new recipes for consumers
  • Assist with product costing, working with QA and QA-approved vendors
  • Source vendors and assist QA with vendor approval
  • Conduct shelf-life studies and finalize cooking/handling instructions
  • Work with Sales Manager to present/demonstrate products to customers during sales visits
  • Develop product specifications (e.g., ingredients, sizes) for marketing and packaging materials
  • Assist marketing with product commercialization
  • Establish production protocols
  • Attend plant trials to ensure product integrity during initial production and take any necessary corrective actions

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3-5 years' experience in food product development and commercialization
  • 3-5 years' experience in a food manufacturing or food editorial environment
  • 2-3 years' experience with European and Asian cuisine
  • 2-3 years' recipe writing experience
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian food regulations
  • Passion for seafood
  • Post-secondary education in culinary school (asset)
  • Excellent communication skills: oral, written, interpersonal, presentation, relationship management
  • Sound costing/financial skills
  • Strong awareness of local and global food trends, particularly seafood
  • Creative
  • Detail oriented
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
