My client a leading, independently-owned media agency in the UK, specialising in launch and growth strategies is is currently looking for an enthusiastic and highly experience SEO specialist to join their management team on an initial eight month contract.

The role will see the successful applicant manage a team of 7 including account assistants, executives, managers and copywriters in addition to leading accounts for a number of diverse and exciting brands ranging from legal, financial and B2B services through to consumer goods, entertainment, arts, publishing and recruitment. This role requires a demonstrable knowledge of SEO and Social Media (specifically Owned and Earned) and a practical approach to dealing with client requests and forward planning.

The successful candidate will have at least 3 years' experience of heading up SEO function and/or team and have a genuine passion for all things digital.

Key Responsibilities

Management

  • Ability to build strong relationships internally
  • Responsible for the management, supervision and development of team members. Ensuring the team is motivated/happy/and working well.
  • Supporting integration of SEO and Social with other agency departments
  • Work closely with head of digital and other specialist teams (media planning, PPC, Display, etc.) to ensure that robust search marketing campaigns are in place for clients
  • Demonstrating effective Time Management across all aspects of role
  • Organise and attend regular face to face meetings with clients, ie plan presentations; SEO update/strategic presentations, monthly conference calls, quarterly meetings etc.
  • Ensuring client service levels are exceptional and that clients are delighted with our service
  • Ensuring the quality of work your team produce is of the highest standard
  • Training the wider agency team. Delivering product and technical training
  • A commercial understanding, running the SEO team profitably/looking for new income opportunities wherever possible and maximising income from current clients
  • Effectively managing the remuneration and staffing levels of the SEO team.
  • Ability to effectively train and develop junior members of the team
  • Accurately and regularly reporting the SEO forecast and targets
  • Highly developed presentations skills
  • Ability to provide high quality planning documents (well written/good structure)
  • Producing articles for agency's PR effort. Speaking at/attending conferences where appropriate.
  • Shared Knowledge - keeping up to date on SEO news, new tools and techniques to develop technical skills. Sharing changes on the industry with clients
  • Be confident sharing knowledge and training staff and clients where needed

New Business

Works effectively on new business pitches and provides a substantial contribution to the end results

  • Conducts SEO audits for business development purposes
  • Be comfortable pitching and proposing suitable search solutions where required
  • Contribute to proposal and tender responses
  • Working with marketing to develop new business opportunities

SEO & Social craft skills

Be able to support the team to:

  • Devise and implement SEO and Social Media campaigns across a range of client accounts including link building, website structures, content plans, new websites built technical support, social content development, etc.
  • Utilise 3rd party and in-house tools including Advanced Web Ranking, Link Research Tools, Google Analytics, Omniture, Webmaster tools, IIS, SEOmoz, Fruition, etc.
  • Measure effectiveness of SEO campaigns and implementing appropriate reporting structures for both internal use and external client use
  • Be comfortable working with technical teams to ensure any required changes are implemented
  • Confidently set achievable KPIs across SEO activity and ensure that this is integrated into overall digital marketing activity where appropriate
  • An ability to apply industry knowledge and communicate potential impact to clients & agency team
  • Overseeing planning & delivery on Key accounts

Necessary skills and qualifications

  • Degree educated in business, IT or marketing
  • Ability and experience in strategic planning and analysis of SEO campaigns
  • Experience of the delivery of SEO projects on time and within budget
  • Experience of leading, motivating and nurturing a team.

Salary dependent on skills & experience - up to £60,000 (pro rata) + benefits.
