Application Architect / Designer -SOA, UML - European Commission - Brussels

For one of our projects at the European Commission in Brussels we are urgently looking for an Application Architect / Designer.

Main Tasks:

  • Review the architecture (reverse engineering) of e eQuestionnaire (old system to be replaced by eRFI), and identify and document use cases and features already implemented.
  • Analysis and documentation of the RFI process, business needs, business model, uses cases, features.
  • Define building blocks necessary to build eRFI (support the RFI process).
  • Design the eRFI component architecture based on building blocks and interoperability.
  • Analysis and assessment of reusable building blocks existing in the Commission suitable for reuse in eRFI. Gap analysis of existing building block versus necessary building blocks for eRFI. Design of new building blocks to fill the gap if necessary.
  • Analysis of integration and/or interoperability requirements of eRFI with different backend systems. Design of interoperability interface and services.
  • Data analysis and data modelling.
  • Analysis of non-functional requirements. Risk analysis.
  • Drafting of the Architecture Overview (Commission's template).
  • Drafting of the Project Charter (Commission's template).
  • Participation to functional working groups and meetings with the users.

Specific Expertise:

  • In depth knowledge of interoperability technologies (e.g. web services, message oriented middleware, enterprise service bus, SOA).
  • In depth knowledge of IS Architecture based on reusable building blocks.
  • In depth knowledge of UML.

  • European Commission's project management methodology PM2.
  • European Commission's SOA methodology
  • European Commission's Enterprise Architecture, CEAF, Reference Architecture.
  • ISA Community Program's Reference Architecture.
  • Business process analysis, BPMN. European Commission's business process modelling methodology and tool ARIS.
  • Relational DBMS

Languages:

Fluent in English and French is an asset
