Aircraft Ground Equipment Engineer

We are currently recruiting for an Aircraft Ground Equipment Engineer with military aircraft experience is required to work on a twelve month contract (with the possibility of extension) for our Defence client based in Lancashire.

This is a 12 month contract working for a UK leading defence company.

Overview of the Aircraft Ground Equipment Engineer contract role

Our leading defence client is looking for a candidate to build hardware in support of the various aircraft platforms and to support Future Combat Air Systems, hardware produced which includes Ground Support Equipment including aircraft test sets and Site Support Equipment. The Ground Support Equipment can range from a simple cable assembly to complex Test Equipment. Site Support Equipment can include quirky power supplies or one off bespoke units to help other areas of the organisation.

Key skills required for the Aircraft Ground Equipment Engineer

  • Electrical Assembly Engineering experience ideally in an Aircraft Engineering environment.
  • Experience in the termination of aircraft military connectors.
  • Experience in a range of electrical build and assembly skills.
  • Knowledge of electrical and mechanical engineering drawings.
  • Support to the Assembly Integration and Test team.
  • Report to the Section Leader on project progress and be able to deliver a project to budget and schedule constraints.
  • Possess the ability to work well within a group of Aircraft Ground Equipment Engineers to deliver hardware products as well as being able to work independently.
  • Ability to work directly from engineering drawings.
  • Build (mechanical and wiring) of Aircraft Ground Equipment (AGE).
  • Review of kits to ensure accuracy (mechanical and electrical piece parts.)
  • Up keep with all associated paperwork.
  • The use of IT and PC will be necessary.
  • Use of the Operations BAAN material management system (training will be provided).
  • Flexible proactive attitude will be required to react to changing customer requirements.
  • Support to UK based Equipment with potential in-frequent trips.

The role is based in Preston, Lancashire - commutable from Blackpool, Lancaster, Morecambe, Chorley, Leyland, Blackburn, Darwen, Burnley, Skipton, Stockport, Manchester, Warrington, Wigan, Bolton, Bury, Rochdale and Oldham with excellent access from Liverpool and Leeds.
