Overview

We've been a recruitment partner for our client for a number of years, they re a highly respected and innovative Global Telecoms provider and they're seeking an experienced telecoms focused Network Fibre Planner for 12 - 18 months to work on a strategic FTTP roll out. You will be working as part of the Access Network Planning department and supporting team looking after the wider group in delivering this exciting project objective.

Working with our clients local planning team, you will be tasked with creating the detailed planning packs to facilitate the total traffic migrations from key exchange areas to the designated migration sites.

Traffic and systems to be migrated include business customers, points of InterconnecT as well as residential.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Survey, Design and Creation of detailed fibre job packs for build
  • Survey, Design and Creation of detailed civil job packs for build
  • Scheduling and prioritisation of planning work activities
  • Progress reporting on planning work activities
  • Owning, executing and delivering planning requirements
  • Good understanding of requirements for creation of build job packs - including all accompanying documentation for utility stats, road opening notices, detailed network plans with work point instructions, CDM, Bills of Material etc
  • Using our GIS System, ensure all network components are accurately recorded in the design phase.
  • Liaison with any local authority agents and any other third parties as part of overall planning role
  • Highlight and escalate major design variances to the local planning team.
  • Flexible approach in dealing with amendments to planned information and working with our clients field teams to agree solutions to problems.
  • Ensure accurate completion of all planned work and as built documentation

Person Requirement's include:

  • Core and Access Fibre Network Planning experience
  • Civils Planning experience
  • Planning knowledge out to the homes across Legacy and current Cable/Telco access network topologies
  • Proven track record of planning successful projects
  • A telecoms background coupled with a planning background is required for this position - you may have worked for one of the major UK telcos which would be an advantage, in particular BT.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy coupled with a can do' attitude
  • Previous use of GIS systems would be useful (training will be provided)
  • Ability to draw together different technical disciplines
  • Able to communicate with people across multiple locations and at different levels
  • Able to identify and work with key stakeholders inside and outside of the business
  • A total awareness and understanding of current health and safety procedures Knowledge of Microsoft Office and being PC literate - eg MS Excel, MS Visio

Objective

  • To design FTTP solutions to agreed architectures which satisfy the project goals.
  • Willing to relocate Monday to Friday for 12 - 18 months to one of the British Crown dependent Islands off the UK mainland.
  • Will be used to working in a fast paced and changing environment
  • Will be a flexible team player and yet able to take the lead when required.
  • Have a strong positive attitude and excellent rapport and people skills at all levels.
