Yes, Pinterest does not only work for companies in tourism, fashion or the food industry. Not-so-visual businesses \u2013 including B2B\u2019s &#8211; can profit as well.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The reason is, that Pinterest users pin all kinds of content and products they are interested in. Also take a look at the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/business.pinterest.com\/it\/brand-guidelines\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">brand guidelines<\/a>\u00a0and read\u00a0what they don\u00b4t allow in the Acceptable Use Policy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These are some of the things you should <strong>avoid doing on Pinterest<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Don\u2019t just open an account because everyone you know is using Pinterest!<\/strong><br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Don\u2019t start without a strategy!<\/strong><br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Don\u2019t be one of the inconsistent businesses which open an account, create one or two boards, pin things for a couple of days and after a while forgets all about it.<\/strong><br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Don\u2019t use your personal account to promote business!\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pinterest.com\/business\/convert\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Convert to a business account<\/a>\u00a0and verify your website!<\/strong><br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Don\u2019t operate with an incomplete profile! Or just create an account and then pin nothing!<\/strong><br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Don\u2019t forget to include a description for your boards!<\/strong>\u00a0I\u2019m guilty of this one too. I have a lot of boards and lost track over some of them. But I promise you, I will go back and add a description to the boards that don\u2019t have one. And so should you. Make sure to add significant keywords to your board description!<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Don\u2019t leave your pins without a description!<\/strong>\u00a0A blank space, a full stop or simply one word like \u201clove\u201d, \u201ccute\u201d or \u201cpretty\u201d is not helping you to get found in the search results.<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Don\u2019t display empty or incomplete boards!<\/strong>\u00a0Pinterest gives you the opportunity to add so called secret boards. \u00a0Use this kind of board until you pinned at least 5\u201310 images. Then make your board visible for the public eye.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Would you follow this account?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-src=\"https:\/\/freelancermap.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com\/channel_incl2\/23-thing-to-avoid-on-pinterest-3318.jpg\" alt=\"\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" class=\"lazyload\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Don\u2019t pin all content on one board!<\/strong>\u00a0Create multiple boards.<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Don\u2019t use hashtags unless they are branded!<\/strong>\u00a0They don\u2019t work the same on Pinterest as they do on Twitter or Instagram.<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Don\u2019t use link shorteners!<\/strong>\u00a0Even though some articles recommend using bit.lys, Pinterest is not a fan of link shorteners and marks them as spam.<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Don\u2019t only pin your own content!<\/strong>\u00a0Avoid being one of those me-me-me-businesses which only care about themselves and their vision. Offer help and valuable advice from different sources and watch how people keep coming back for more.<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Don\u2019t forget to add a link when you upload your images!<\/strong>\u00a0Always remember to click the edit button and to add a link to the original source of your content so your traffic from Pinterest increases.<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Don\u2019t pin too much at once!<\/strong>\u00a0Try to PIN frequently new things and keep your audience engaged.\u00a0<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Don\u2019t pin a new pin to all your boards at the same time!<\/strong>\u00a0Pinning your content to different boards is a great tactic but don\u00b4t do it all at once. Wait a couple of days or weeks to pin the same content again.<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Don\u2019t break the rules in group boards you join!<\/strong>\u00a0Each and every group board has its own rules. Some don\u2019t allow more than 3 new pins a day from the same user or object to pinning horizontal images. Make sure you read the rules of each group board carefully before you ask to be invited or before you accept an invitation.<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Don\u2019t steal someone else\u2019s images!<\/strong>\u00a0There is no need to do so because you can create your own images in less than 2 minutes\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/medium.com\/@danielal007\/7-tools-for-your-pinterest-quotes-b03f0bf7ed27\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">using these tools<\/a>.<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Don\u2019t obsess over the number of followers ON your ACCOUNT!<\/strong>\u00a0Pinterest requires a lot of patience. Rome wasn\u2019t built in a day, right? So, don\u2019t expect to gain thousands of followers overnight. Anyway, the number of followers is not as important on Pinterest as it is on Twitter or Facebook because people can find pins in the Guided Search and Pinterest shows recommended pins in the feed or boards in the emails they send.\u00a0<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Don\u2019t oversell!<\/strong>\u00a0Instead\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/medium.com\/@danielal007\/how-to-sell-on-pinterest-without-being-salesy-535ef60586cb#.9udg454fe\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">help, inspire, educate and entertain<\/a>. The sales will follow naturally!<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Avoid pinning low quality images!<\/strong><br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Don\u00b4t put text overlay on images related to promotions!<\/strong>\u00a0Why it\u00b4s a bad idea to write something like \u201c20% discount\u201d? Because discounts last limited time and pins live forever. If you do you will confuse pinners once the promotion is over. Instead implement product rich pins which automatically change the product prices if there is a discount.<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Don\u2019t use affiliate links on Pinterest!<\/strong>\u00a0The network made some changes in February 2015 which are related to\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.adweek.com\/socialtimes\/pinterest-to-disable-affiliate-links-redirects-and-tracking-on-pins\/615517\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">affiliate links<\/a>. Now, included affiliate links lead to nowhere.
