I was the cross functional leader for all projects conducted by Germany and Poland engineering teams. Active in Rolls-Royce and other customers for Energy, Automotive and Aerospace domains. Led a team of 110 staff and contract engineers delivering complex projects for the latest aero-engine and industrial project developments.

Cost reduction manager, steam turbines
Upon my return to the Steam Turbines organisation to join the Cost Reduction and Localisation Team,
I was assigned the rotor, blades, vanes and valve components and tasked to deliver 25% cost
reduction. Within one month I had identified and initiated actions to realise 1M€ additional margin
on existing projects. Savings were realised through both outsourcing to low cost locations and
efficiency improvements. At the time of leaving I had managed to achieve around 15% cost reduction
for the items in scope. Ultimately ~40% cost reduction was realised.

03/2009 - 10/2014
Program manager
General Electric (Alstom)
I was responsible for a 3.5M€ budget for new steam turbine combined cycle R&D projects and to
automate engineering structural and thermal analyses. Projects were complex in nature with multiple
technical discipline interfaces and stakeholders including technical, commercial, sales and
marketing. The work included a high amount of low-cost content delivered from Indian suppliers. I
set a record for the department achieving 100% milestone schedule delivery for the final 9 months in
position.

Manufacturing Research and Development, Program Manager
I applied to move to Manufacturing Operations, a new department where I authored the "Operations
Manufacturing R&D working practice directive" implementing a gated process for manufacturing process
developments with a focus on leadtime and cost reduction.
As program manager I was responsible for a budget over 5M€ per annum. I defined and initiated a
manufacturing technology development program to deliver 30% cost reduction on GT compressor and
steam turbine blades and vanes. Additional specific improvements within scope were improved
elliptical leading edges, aerofoil profile, inducing compressive stress for life improvement and
surface finish.
I was also responsible for multiple projects to drive LEAN continuous improvement with production
engineers across steam turbines and valves, gas turbines, HRSG and turbo-generators.
Within this role I was responsible, using value stream mapping, to identify areas needing
improvement and subsequently implement new technologies or develop processes to facilitate and/or
accommodate future designs and to drive lead-time, cost and process capability.

As a consultant I worked for various major OEM clients in various capacities. I developed a
reputation for developing innovative solutions while delivering to schedule and quality requirements
and as a result was selected for several key design and project management roles:

* Cost excellence idea generation and implementation
* Powerplant installation liaison - for outsourced content
* Component and systems design
I gained diverse component experience working on: composites, sheet metal, machined parts and
fabricated assemblies. Additionally, I worked both in NPI/NTI environments and fleet maintenance
teams.

Product Development Engineer

In my first professional role I gained a place on the 3-month intensive graduate training program
with Rolls-Royce. Following successful completion, I was assigned a design engineer position working
on large civil aero-engine component design. This covered installations and systems components with
interfaces to airframe customers, nacelle and thrust reverser suppliers. In this role I project
managed engine modification implementation and design/make packages including supplier negotiation
and down selection.
