Publication company - John Wiley & Sons is migrating its Legacy data (JD Edwards) into SAP,
this process includes merging data from multiple systems into a single system, applying
conversion logics to satisfy the business needs where Informatica is involved in extracting
data from Legacy systems like JANIS, JCORE, JPCMS and loading into Unified SAP System. Data
migration in this project is carried out through multiple mocks which includes conversion of
various subject areas, each subject area is further classified into various objects related to
Customer, Product & Subscription data.
Responsibilities:
* Extracted data from legacy system to Staging Area and loaded the data to the target database
by ETL process using Informatica Power Center.
* Developed complex mappings to load data from Source System (Oracle) and flat files and
generate load ready files for SAP.
* Created different transformations like Source Qualifier, Expression, Router, Filter, Lookup,
Sequence Generator, Normalizer transformations for loading the data into the targets.
* Used debugger in identifying bugs in existing mappings by analyzing data flow, evaluating
transformations.
* Effectively used parameter files for defining mapping variables, workflow variables, FTP
connections and relational connections.
* Used Oracle to write SQL queries that create/alter/delete tables and to extract the necessary
data
* Used UNIX to navigate around the system and check for specific files, the files' content,
change permissions and see who the current users are
* Involved in performance tuning and performed unit testing for jobs developed.
* Set and follow Informatica best practices, such as creating shared objects in shared for
reusability and standard naming convention of ETL objects, design complex Informatica
transformations, mapplets, mappings, reusable sessions, worklets and workflows.
