Design Manager
10.2011 - today
In October 2011, we decided to move forward and build up the design team due to the increasing volume of work, and took on our first Junior Designer who was to work with me on all design projects. By this time, we had grown to 9 members of staff and I had increased responsibilities in regards to staff management, key office decisions and the day to day running of the company. I aided in implementing new work procedures to increase work flow and maintain good customer relations.

In my current role, I am responsible for taking each and every new project & holding meetings with clients to fully understand their goals, and help them to realise their aims and objectives. I lead projects through from initial brain-storming on paper with the client and design team, through wire-framing and previews while maintaining constant contact with clients every step of the way, working with the client, not for them, to achieve maximum results and great user experiences. I am also responsible for the development of the design team, to get them up to the expected 2D standard and then to push themselves beyond to create innovative solutions to complex design problems.

I also continue to handle internal branding projects including internal sites, office canvases, staff avatars, business cards, newsletters and any other print branding required.

At present, there are now 14 members of staff (including 3 in the design team), and as such my key responsibilities have increased to include staff interviews, staff reviews, team management, project management, maintaining client relationships and much more.

Lead Designer
03.2009 - 10.2011
During this period at 2D I honed my design skills, attended (and continue to attend) many web conferences to stay on top of emerging technologies and design theory. As the company grew, I continued to take on more responsibility in regards to general staff and office management, meeting with clients, and helped make decisions in regards to the company’s direction. At this time, I was designing all Online Shops, CMS sites & internal sites, as well as being the sole Flash developer when required, taking projects through from initial concepts to final designs ready for the build team. This comprised of supplying all required graphics in an organised way, providing wireframes for functionality and stylesheets.

A showcase of my design work from 2Dmedia was featured in a 2010 edition of WebDesignerMag, and in September 2011 I spoke about design practices at ‘Flash on the Beach’ (now Reasons to be Creative), a development and design conference in Brighton.

Junior Web Designer
09.2007 - 03.2009
I joined 2Dmedia as the 4th member of staff in September 2007. I was taken on as a Junior web designer, designing and building sites for clients on the 2DCMS system. At this stage I was the sole designer for 2Dmedia, and as such design was my primary focus. Eventually, I was not able to code anymore due to the volume of design work needing completed, so I ‘retired’ from the front-end code side, and focused on Design and Flash work. I still keep up to date with all current web standards and technologies through regular personal projects, and code web site front-ends so I can create more innovative designs with a full understanding of what I expect.
