I studied in the United States where I completed my elementary school. Later, I completed my secondary and university studies in Venezuela, except for a period of one year in Brazil. My university major was in Architecture, and I got my degree in Architecture from the Universidad de los Andes here in Venezuela. After my graduation, I worked for several years as an Urban Planner in several Venezuelan Government Agencies. In this job, I worked in elaborating Urban Development plans and establishing zoning ordinances for cities in Venezuela. I interrupted this period by an interval of two years to do a postgraduate course in Urban Regional Planning in Edinburgh University in the United Kingdom with a grant from the British Council. On completing the course, I presented my thesis to get my diploma, which comprised a method to determine the limits of growth in small cities in Venezuela. In Venezuela again, I resumed my job in the government, but this time I involved myself, in my spare time, with my private practice. During this time I completed several projects the most important of them being the plans for the design and development of an area of 20 hectares of land in plots for vacation housing. This is in a small town, Rio Chico, which is a three-hour ride from Caracas.
At this moment, I retired from all architectural work because of the crisis that Venezuela is going through in which all construction has ceased. Therefore, I took up teaching English, translation and interpretation. As an English teacher, I taught English for almost 20 years in the most important language institutes of the country besides working as an English instructor in the state oil company PDVSA. More or less during the same period I worked freelance, translating and interpreting. translated reports and articles dealing with scientific, technical, political, social and economic topics. Recently I’ve done subtitles for videos that appeared on you tube. These videos are about astrophysics. I did the transcriptions and translation of these videos from English to Spanish.
I interpreted for a Chinese trade delegation negotiating with the Venezuelan Government the installation of a domestic appliance assembly plant here in the country. I also served as the interpreter for a Jamaican delegation bartering cement for Venezuelan oil.
My computer has a subtitling program and I also use online dictionaries. I work with Microsoft Word and Power Point.
