Project history

Product Designer
Wide Walls (Other, 10-50 employees)

As a product designer for the ecommerce platform of WideWalls (https://www.widewalls.ch/), my role encompassed a range of responsibilities and activities aimed at creating a user-friendly and visually appealing online shopping experience. Here's a detailed breakdown of my role:

1. User Research: I began by conducting user research to understand the needs, preferences, and pain points of WideWalls' target audience. This involved surveys, interviews, usability testing, and analyzing user data to gather insights.
2. User Persona Creation: Based on my research, I created user personas. These personas represented different segments of the user base, helping me and my team empathize with and design for specific user needs.
3. Wireframing and Prototyping: I created wireframes and prototypes to visualize the layout and functionality of the ecommerce platform. These wireframes served as a blueprint for the user interface and provided a clear understanding of how different elements would be organized on the website.
4. UI/UX Design: My role included designing the user interface (UI) and user experience (UX) of the platform. This involved creating visually appealing designs, selecting color schemes, typography, and defining the overall look and feel of the website. I aimed to make the site intuitive, easy to navigate, and responsive across various devices and screen sizes.
5. Interaction Design: I designed how users interacted with the platform, including the placement of buttons, menus, and other interactive elements. Ensuring smooth and seamless interactions was crucial for a positive user experience.
6. Information Architecture: I organized and structured the content and product categories on the website. I determined how products were categorized and how users could navigate through the site to find what they were looking for.
7. Accessibility: I ensured that the ecommerce platform was accessible to all users, including those with disabilities. This included following accessibility guidelines and making design choices that accommodated various needs, such as screen readers and keyboard navigation.
8. Collaboration: I collaborated closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, product managers, and marketers, to ensure that the design aligned with the overall business goals and technical feasibility.
9. User Testing: I conducted usability testing with real users to gather feedback on the design and identify any usability issues. I iterated on the design based on this feedback to improve the user experience continually.
10. Responsive Design: Given the importance of mobile devices in ecommerce, I ensured that the platform was fully responsive, providing a seamless experience on smartphones and tablets.
11. A/B Testing: I implemented A/B tests to evaluate different design elements, layouts, or features and determine which ones led to better user engagement, conversions, and overall performance.
12. Staying Updated: As a product designer, it was essential to stay updated with design trends, emerging technologies, and changes in user behavior to keep the platform competitive and relevant.
13. Documentation: I documented design decisions, guidelines, and assets to ensure consistency in the design and development process.
14. Feedback Incorporation: I continuously gathered feedback from users, stakeholders, and team members and incorporated it into design revisions and updates.
15. Quality Assurance: I collaborated with QA teams to ensure that the final product matched the intended design and functioned correctly.
My role as a product designer at WideWalls was pivotal in shaping the user experience and overall success of the ecommerce platform, combining creativity with user-centered design principles to create a compelling and effective shopping environment.
