Responsibilities
* Analyze and respond to special tasks and research inquiries to various embassy's sections.
* Prepare and disseminate daily social media roundups and periodical reports to a high-level
audience within the embassy that cover analysis of main outlets and actors on key topics,
trending topics and chatter, media coverage, public perception of events, and think tanks.
* Support the preparation of the latest in regular daily briefs provided to the Public Affairs
Officer and Media officer where in return passed up chain to key embassy officers.
* Participate in the preparation of media kits, provide English/Arabic translation needed by
American officers such as but not limited to social media content, voiceover, media printed
items, interviews and meetings, workshops and events, and press releases and statements.
* In charge of regularly sourcing, updating, organizing, and aesthetically and clearly presenting
Mission's websites, both in English & Arabic, using a web content management system.
* Assist in organizing embassy's meetings, workshops, and events by designing relevant
communication materials ranging from leaflets, posters, brochures, invitation cards, banners,
setting an audio system, arrange logistical support, collect photos and draft social media
content.
* Design innovative community cultural outreach programs and submit to the Cultural Affairs
Officer; make recommendations on programme strategies.
* Maintain a contact list of wide networks covering a diverse portfolio of embassy partners and
friends, civil society and INGO, and a regularly updated database of media outlets,
journalists, and social media activists and influencers, to communicate Embassy's cooperation
to a wider audience.
Social Media & Digital Marketing Responsibilities
* Overseas, maintain, and grow the online community across all social media platforms as well as
any other new and emerging technologies that may be in use in Yemen.
* Implement the embassy's social media strategy to align with the embassy's goals.
* Create, curate, translate, and design engaging high quality daily social media written and
visual content, in English and Arabic, that cater to different media channels and appeal to
various target audiences, using creative editing tools such as (Adobe Photoshop, Adobe
Premiere, Adobe Lightroom, Canva), and adopting content techniques and strategies to support
mission's goals.
* Partner and work closely with Public Affairs officer, USAID staff and other officers, and
virtual interns from American universities, to brainstorm and act on feedback to develop social
campaigns and content calendar on appropriate channels for maximum reach, engagement, and
growth.
* Monitor and report post-campaign, trending topics, and hashtags. Manage ads campaigns, research
competitors, and respond to community comments according to embassy's terms of use.
* Measure, analyze, and report on a monthly basis web traffic, and social channels KPIs in order
to guide future campaigns and content for maximum reach and impact.

Achievements
* KPIs (Aug2017- Aug2018)- In August 2017, my local direct supervisor was kidnapped by local
authorities and I took sole responsibility of the social media. Under stress conditions, I
collaborated with INGOs and UN partner and created an engaging social content plan that
resulted in a dramatic Twitter following growth by 555%; increasing from 9K to 50K with zero
budget for ads or tools;
* KPIs (Jan2019- Jan2021)- With an annual budget less than $100, I maintained a consistent
Twitter audience growth with a monthly increase of minimum 2K new followers, and an average
impression of 800k despite local high anti-US sentiment;
* Between 2018-2020, my social initiatives frequently gained embassy a spot in NEA's top
performing social media pages, and I was recognized with prestigious awards for my efforts and
creativity;
* In addition, between 2017-2020 and according to Social Bakers, the embassy's Facebook page and
Twitter account ranked as the most engaging foreign diplomatic mission to Yemen;
* In two consecutive years, I was awarded with two Meritorious awards and a recommendation from USAID
director for excellent performance, and social media high quality contributions;
* On numerous occasions, I provided insightful social media analysis and best practices, voiced
views on controversial issues, and kept officers informed of emerging topics and issues that
contributed effectively to media summary reporting and atmospherics.
* Co-led in the process of drafting winning proposals of $250K USG funds for establishing four
American educational corners in the cities of Sana'a, Taiz, Hudaidah, and Aden;
* (2012-2014) Initiated and implemented multiple capacity-building programs and training
workshops for journalists, university students, youth activists, civil society, and embassy
contacts ;

Contract Researcher
The Global Initiative Against Transnational Organized Crime (Other, 10-50 employees)

Single-handedly led four field research teams in six Yemeni governorates to carry out field
research and highlight the existed sophisticated migrant smuggling networks, role of organized
crime in migrant smuggling, economies of migrant smuggling, and other trends and issues. Project
involved research design, planning data collection tools, budgeting, analyzing data, and
drafting reports.

* Mixed Migration flows from Eastern Africa to Yemen Sep 2016- Nov 2016
Filed research conducted to the Danish Refugee Council HQ by a local Yemeni consultancy firm.
