Safa-Telecom is the provider of Mobile and Fixed Satellite Communications Solutions and International Distribution Partner.

Lead VSAT Engineer responsible for both engineering satellite links and providing technical support and assistance to the Company and re-seller engineers. Producing bespoke detailed technical reports and briefings for clients to provide analysis and understanding of communication requirements and equipment. Providing project management and service delivery of VSAT related projects. Assisting with configuration, installation, servicing and support of customer or company owned equipment & systems as required. Responsibility for the coordination, conduction and evaluation of YahSat, Thuraya and Inmarsat training seasons for a variety of domestic and international stakeholders (internal staff and re-seller engineers). Key team member involved in testing the YahSat Ka Band systems in multiple locations around the Middle East. Responsibility for trouble shooting Link / Beam issues. First line support for all engineers on the ground, working closely with YahSat’s Technical Department.

Practical experience and strong working knowledge of YahSat i.e conducting a variety of Ka Band VSAT engineering projects around the MENA region (Afghanistan / Iraq / Pakistan / Qatar / South Sudan); composing and presenting documentation to clients, analysis of findings on completed projects. Close working relationships with key clients to include: United Nations (satellite engineering in Afghanistan and fitting & maintenance of HF radios, South Sudan and within their vehicle fleet, Dubai, for worldwide operational deployments), Norwegian Embassy and Leading Oil and Gas companies (Satellite engineering and project management).

Lead Support Engineer with sole responsibility for the management and co-ordination of leading, planning, conducting and completing all projects (MENA region, UK & Europe) within budgetary controls. Impeccable time management and strong organisation skills accompanied with the ability to effectively plan several projects simultaneously has resulted in the 100% successful delivery of individual projects whilst maximising on cost efficiency.

Primarily concentrated on Saudi Arabian Embassy’s throughout the MENA region & Europe, I have conducted a volume of VSAT site surveys, working with architects and structural engineers; installed, engineered and commissioned VSAT links around Europe co-ordinating with local civil works teams, having been deployed to sites around Europe and the Middle East to conduct site maintenance and trouble shooting on VSAT links replacing necessary equipment or wiring. I have composed and presented completed documentation for all work conducted to each client. Since being part of the Echelon Team I have worked with 2.4 – 6.8 meter VSAT antennas as well as extensive work with the Hughes modems.

Installing and operating a variety of communications systems. Types of communications including all forms of HF communications, Vsat and Mobile Sat phones / Tac Sat, as well as all types of cabling to provide service to equipment. Trouble shooting fault finding and replacing equipment or wiring as required. Jobs varied in size and scale from setting up and operating complex communications networks on exercises and operational tours to the installation of small and large operations rooms. Tasks including laying and connecting cabling, installing mobile and static antennae on buildings or masts along with the set up and operation of mobile and static satellite communications. Managing and coordinating operations rooms, shift scheduling and man management of all individuals under my command. Providing ground to air communications between helicopters and high priority operations.

Working in a wide variety of environments both indoors and out, from small and large offices in both Northern Ireland and Germany in a civilian rich environment to small and large Operations Rooms in Kosovo, Iraq and Afghanistan and also outdoors.
