6 Overview
Mr. Juergen Placht is considered to be an independent expert in the world of mobile telecommunications. He is the author of many technical documents as well as several books dealing with miscellaneous issues of this branch.

His career started in 1988 after successful studies of electronics with Tekelec Airtronic in Munich as a product manager for several ISDN, SS#7 and GSM analyzer units. Already at that time he was in charge of trainings for those subject areas.

After that, from 1991 to 1997, as a manager with Siemens Munich for the communications test equipment department he was responsible for several protocol test units. He established and maintained contacts to major telecom companies and telecom equipment suppliers in Europe, USA, and Asia.

From 1997 to 2001 he was a manager for the departments sales support and customer support with Tektronix Berlin (Tektronix acquired the former Siemens department). Those departments were focused on GSM, GPRS and UMTS/CDMA2000 networks. Furthermore he was a seminar trainer for technical education with those protocols and associated topics. Multiple assignments around the globe (Europe, USA, Asia) also belonged to his daily routine.
As an applications consultant with Tektronix he was responsible for strategic customers since 2001 until the beginning of 2004. He mainly was involved in design and installation of UMTS networks there.

Since 2004 he is involved in UMTS troubleshooting for Vodafone and O2, evaluation of protocol testers for GSM/GPRS/UMTS (Siemens), support for configuration and testing of virtual GSM/GPRS networks, development and performance of an active test for SGSN and GGSN (Siemens) and the protocol development for a radio access switch for UMTS networks. Consulting for a Dutch network operator was also part of the job.

Recent projects also included tests of UMTS Femto Access Points and Femto Access Gateways as well as cooperation in standardization (3GPP) of Lte (Long term evolution, Long term evolution-Advanced) and cooperation in establishing a Lte test lab at Nokia Siemens Networks. Supporting integration of network nodes in Lte and testing the first implementation in Lte-Advanced Air interface and protocol tests for Lte.

He also is responsible for technical trainings regarding all these technologies.

Mr. Jürgen Placht offers you a variety of technical services for 2G, 2½G, 3G and 4G mobile telecommunication networks. With his over 24 year experience in protocol analyzing technology he is able to understand every process within those kind of networks.

The range of technical services contains:
• Documented troubleshooting and cause study for mobile telecommunication networks
(e.g. SS#7, GSM, GPRS, UMTS, Lte, Lte-Advanced)
• Development of test concepts and test specifications for mobile telecom equipment
• Consulting for all design and concept stages
• Support with measurement and protocol analysis of active mobile telecommunication networks
• Simulation of network segments
• Acceptance tests for mobile telecommunication networks or single network segments
• Protocol trainings for GSM, GPRS, UMTS, Lte and Lte-Advanced
• LTE Uu analyzing service for your implementation (with Uu measurement equipment).
