Skills

I have more than 25 years of successful (> 97 %) experience in implementation of Enterprise Business Software (EBS) systems - predominantly infor Baan IV to LN 6.1. I have implemented all well-established modules from Engineering Data Management (EDM) to Finance and Service. As project management tool, I applied the GDPM method of Coopers & Lybrand.

My strength lies in the formulation and realization of the economically optimal customer solution in collaboration with external and internal project members. The prevailing number of my EBS implementation projects had international structures and mostly third-party products had to be included with interfaces or as “exits” from the following areas:

  • CRM (>= 5),
  • MES (>= 7),
  • WMS (>= 3),
  • QMS (>= 2),
  • SRM (1),
  • SCM (>= 5),
  • e-shops (>= 2),
  • DMS (>= 2),
  • Finance and Controlling Systems (>= 50),
  • open source components (>= 50),
  • Android applications for mobile devices [smartphone] (>= 3),
  • Office integratation (>= 10),
  • EDIFACT (>= 30),
  • Individual customer-specific software (>= 100),
  • etc.

Almost all projects included the essential project milestone data migration, in which data from legacy systems and all other important data sources (e.g., excel, EDIFACT, databases, etc.), respectively, have to be mutually converted, adjusted, and conditioned, in order to be imported and integrated as master and transaction data in the new system.

My last project as employee of the company infor (1996) was the bidding and conceptual design of the automotive solution for the SMART-Car of Mercedes Benz, which was also my key-account customer as implementation consultant. The realization of the project started in 1997. The conceptual phase of the sales solution (CRM) started right after.

Between 08/1996 and 12/2015, I have conducted more than 100 implementations of ERP, CRM. SCM, and PDM. In addition, I have evaluated in presentations and workshops with more than 300 potential customers (e.g. Wolf Gardening Devices, Elba Folders, Stihl, Mercedes Unimog, Evraz Bajglekoks, etc.), which ERP system is best for them.

Over the almost last 30 years, I have attentively monitored all techniques and developments in the field of project management. I enrolled on demand in courses (project management, agile teams, scrum, etc.), successfully mastered multiple-choice exams for the certification (PMP and Prince2), and included precious literature on this subject (Kanban, etc.).

For all projects between 1993 and 2016, I have outlined the project plan on the basis of detailled weekly and daily tasks, estimated internal/external efforts, made up the necessary teams with the customer, scheduled mile stones, fixed project budgets, assigned responsibilities, and compiled and submitted offers and contracts for projects.

Between 2008 and 2012, I have furthermore conceived and designed a web- and cloud-based software generator called A-Tools, with which I can automatically generate almost any standard application, e.g. ERP or CRM, based on a relational database design (e.g. in PostgreSQL) – and all essential open source programs are included.

From 2009 I have developed the web- and cloud-based ERP/CRM/SCM/PDM system BOB’S_WORLD with international locations in Brazil (Joao Pessoa), Romania (Alba Iulia), China (Hohhot) and Ukraine (L’viv) with all in all 30 to temporarily 50 developers. From 2011 BOB’S_WORLD has been used by the first customers.

With BOB’S_WORLD and A-Tools, I have processed and supplemented all business software projects in Eastern Europe from 2010 to 2015 in the name of BOB’S WORLD AG. After undergoing a fundamental redesign of BOB’S_WORLD in the first half of 2016, I have newly generated it under the new name TiS (Think in Systems).

Since 2015 I have been working on the new version of A-Tools. It is the goal to eliminate 95% of all necessary customizations in source code and to make it as a part of system configuration done by the users. Furthermore it can be determined for which kind of device the application has to be generated – desktop (JAVA), smart phone (Android), or tablet (Android).

The last four months of this year, I have converted a rather complex MS Access-based Facility Management and Controlling System [based on the classical Plaut’schen CC*] into a standardized web- and cloud-based solution with A-Tools. In addition, I evaluate currently the open source tool hadoop to be integrated in TiS in conjunction with search engines.

I have also excellent knowledge in database and SQL. My profound knowledge in database modelling, I have acquired during my studies in UAS at LSU. I attended the lessons on databases by Dr. Chen, the founder of the Entity Relationship (ER) Design. After that, I worked many years with the ER designer from Oracle using the notation of Barker.

Today, I basically don’t need an ER designer any more to model a database in 2nd normalization consisting from several 100 tables. The „sound“ data modelling for an application is one of my central, but a little concealed, corner stones of my career. I call this „my syntactically and semantically understanding of data“.

Between 2010 and 2015, I designed and have developed a web- and cloud-based JAVA software generator, with which I can automatically generate almost any, e.g. ERP, standard application based on a relational database design (e.g. in PostgreSQL). With this tool, I have managed the ERP projects in Eastern Europe.

I have appended a significant project list can be looked up under \"Projects.\" For the listed customers, I have drafted the implementation concept, project plan, and business model, as well as outlined, developed, and implemented almost all customizations, developments, and interfaces to third-party products.

Im January 2016, I have started  along the way („it is more than a small hobby – legacy?“) to channel all my knowledge and experiences about implementing Enterprise Business Software in a dissertation. In this doctoral thesis, the results of more than 12.000 professional articles, which I collected and read over the last 6 years on this subject, will enter.

Additional Information:

I would like to anticipate possible questions with respect to my cv and give you more insight in the last two and one half years of my professional „career“. I list all facts and events chronologic order:
  • BOB’S WORLD AG wanted more or less to enter the untapped Eastern European ERP market (white space >= 87%) with its novel web- and cloud-based ERP system BOB’S_WORLD.
  • BOB’S_WORLD is based on PAYU (Pay-As-You-Use) in order that all Eastern European companies can afford an ERP system.
  • ERP has its emphasis in production in Eastern Europe.
  • BOB’S_WORLD has its emphasis also in production and is therefore functionally superior with respect to all market leaders (e. g. SAP, infor, etc.).
  • Till March 2014, BOB’S WORLD AG
    • had 20 employees in development in the locations Milan, Romania, China and Ukraine, 8 employees in direct sales, 12 employees in consulting and customizing, and 5 employees in Vienna (incl. board),
    • had about 25 implementations of BOB’S_WORLD under way,
    • had 3 implementations completed, and
    • had in the sales funnel about 150 companies listed, which planned the implementation of ERP within the following 12 months.
  • BOB’S WORLD AG had its major location in the Eastern European city Donetsk, Ukraine (60% of the GDP of Ukraine is generated in the Donbass region.).
  • Im April 2014, war broke out in Eastern Ukraine.
  • With this, all was lost in Ukraine – projects, employees, etc. in Eastern Ukraine.
  • The base was reloacted to L’viv (Lemberg) in Western Ukraine from May 2014.
  • The uncertainty of the people and companies was still present and huge to such an extent that an adequate and timely setup of the business model was not possible anymore with the few remaining employees.
  • „To cut the story short,“ in September 2015, the investor „schilling“ Treuhand GmbH, Wien, decided not to provide any further capital.
  • On 31.12.2015, I resigned as director from BOB’S WORLD AG.
  • From 2016, I have consolidated the remaining structure in Ukraine and attend to the further development of TiS and A-Tools.
  • For this reason, I travel once a month to Ukraine in oder to outline, discuss, and confirm product development and milestones with the remaining 4 developers.
  • All rights on A-Tools, with which TiS is generated/developed, belong solely to me and are free from any third-party rights.
  • From 2016, I have supported companies in infor SSA Baan IV to infor ERP LN 6.1 on a daily basis.
  • I realize since mid 2016 that the fire for project work is still burning in me.

Project List

In 95% of the following projects, I was project leader and responsible for schedule, budget and internal/external project members. As super-ordinate project leader, I had responsibility for the entire project and approved simulations I to III along with our project team, internal project leader, and management.

Simulation I includes the accepted general business solution presented by the external project team. Simulation II includes the accepted and refined business solution presented by the key-user team. Simulation III includes the accepted and final business solution presented by the end-user team. If simulation III is accepted, live operation can be prepared and scheduled.

In my commented and key-worded project list, it should become clear that there are only very few subjects in ERP and enterprise business software, respectively, which I have not handled for customers. If there is something missing, then it simply has not been required so far by any customer.

  • Role:                 Solution designer for the pearl-chain algorithm (MB-specific expression)
  • Modules:         Production
  • Specialty:         For the injection of cars in the assembly line (with up to 8 critical criteria) an algorithm had to be developed after several mathematicians failed (NP-hard). Through my studies in the USA with emphasis on operations research I recognized immediately that it is a Branch&Bound problem, which required an expanded solution space. The algorithm, which I developed, calculated the pearl chain, i.e. the sequence of 800 cars for the subsequent shift of 8 hours, with an accuracy of 99,97 % on average, i.e. about 3 cars could not be sequenced when the solution space was limited. Now, you simply replace the 3 cars with 3 cars from the subsequent shift and sequence the 3 remaining cars at the beginning of the subsequent shift, which represents the expanded solution space. As a rule of thumb, the cars are assembled at a maximum of 5 minutes later than originally planned. This deviation was within the allowed tolerance. The run-time of the pearl-chain algorithm for 800 cars took about 3 seconds with Branch&Bound. I developed the pearl-chain algorithm as a prototype with Clipper during the bidding for the SMART-CAR project.
