Skills

Accomplished engineer with extensive experience providing consultancy and engineering services relating to corrosion management and materials integrity. Expertise in conducting material selection for various up/down stream oil and gas treatment facilities. Adept at preparing material selection and corrosion control philosophies/strategies, MSDs, MSR, corrosion calculation report, and sensitivity analysis for internal corrosion of pipelines. Skilled in adopting agile project management methodology, coordinating with all stakeholders, and tracking project progress in line with scope, cost, quality, and regulatory standards. Absorb volumes of technical information, conceive realistic solutions, and bridge gap between operational limitations and client/management expectations

Project history

10/2011 - Present
Principal Engineering Metallurgy and Corrosion
PETROFAC INTERNATIONAL SHARJAH (Energy, water and environment, >10.000 employees)

Lead team of engineers as well as designers and effectively manage all engineering work for large projects while adhering to technical/tender specifications, sanctioned budget, deadlines, and contractual requirements. Oversee material selection verification, ensure feasibility of project specification within FEED packages; also, support contract/risk review as well as identify project risks. Supervise preparation of material selection for identification and verification of corrosion allowance potential cracking mechanisms and CI injections. Review process flow diagrams, H&M balance sheets, and fluid list data for each stream, identifying service category per NACE MR0175/ISO 15156.

Key Contributions:

  • Prepared and reviewed engineering studies, design drawings/documents, and material/equipment specifications.
  • Provided guidance in developing Metallurgy key deliverables, such as MSD, MSR, CMM, painting, insulation, and coating specifications. Identify and resolve deviations from original project proposal.
  • Formulated robust corrosion protection philosophy by identifying potential corrosion damage mechanisms, developing corrosion protection, as well as preparing monitoring and controlling strategies for piping/equipment by considering operational and upset conditions.
  • Calculated corrosion rates, and corrosion allowances to determine the corrosivity of process streams based on process data.
  • Prepared technical documents and issued as IDCs, and integration of other engineering discipline data inputs.
  • Identified needs of coating, cathodic protection, and corrosion inhibition/monitoring locations; additionally, led proper selection of coating types, CP, and corrosion coupon/probes for piping/equipment.
  • Headed development corrosion management program, based on MSD, MSR, coating, cathodic protection, and corrosion inhibition/monitoring specification.

03/2007 - 10/2011
Metallurgist And Supervisor - Mechanical/ Metallurgical Section
LONESTAR TECHNICAL SERVICE (Industry and mechanical engineering, 500-1000 employees)

Pursued OSHA, OHSAS 18001 & ISO 14001 (EMS) accreditation. Conducted failure analysis of materials
and assemblies related to oil and gas industry; headed corrosion tests, such as pitting corrosion
testing as per ASTM G48. Determined step wise cracking and sulphide stress corrosion cracking
through corrosion testing of metal for sour service environment as per NACE TM0284, NACE0177, and
EFCP. Assessed causes of inter-granular carrion testing as per ASTM A262 and ASTM G28 of various
stainless-steel grade, inconel, chrome nickel and corrosion resistance alloys. Evaluated presence of
detrimental microstructure through micro structural analysis of material including weld phases.
Key Accomplishments:
* Supervised UKAS audit for laboratory accreditation as per ISO 17025-2005 and led ISO audit for
ISO 9001.
* Assessed micro structure to determine grain size, ferrite percentage, banding assessment,
decarburization measurements, and determination of inclusion contents as per different ASTM
standards.
* Delivered technical support for QC/welding inspection of structures and pipeline for onshore and
off-shore, gas platform, and marine structures.
* Conducted Material identification and correlated mill test certificates of vendor and company
supplied material as per engineering specifications.

12/2003 - 02/2007
Assistant Engineer Metallurgy
PROJECT MANAGEMENT ORGANISATION (Industry and mechanical engineering, 1000-5000 employees)

Working in one of leading Public sector Organization of Pakistan as an assistant engineer in Quality Assurance Department. The main responsibilities include:

  • Making of acceptance testing criterion for metallic, non-metallic and composite materials.
  • Mechanical Testing of metallic, nonmetallic and composite materials.
  • Metallographic evaluation of cast, forged, rolled and welded structures of metallic material.
  • Heat Treatment of metallic material.
  • Material Selection and development for organization.
