Skills

I am a highly motivated business intelligence specialist with a huge amount of curiosity and drive to both understand the data that I am working with and find the best way to work with it. For me this means using research and people skills to gain the understanding that I need, and then having a broad skill base to exploit so that I can work efficiently and effectively.
I began my career in BI with some degree of expertise in IT applications and a good understanding of statistical analysis (learned through studying research methods as part of my BA in Psychology). Over the course of my career I have pushed myself to learn how to use the tools that were available to me - statistical analysis software, GIS tools, reporting solutions, ETL, data warehousing, and so on. I invariably became an expert level user of these applications within my team, advising and training others despite starting at the same point. This drive to understand data and information systems led me to undertake a second undergraduate degree, in Computing and IT, which I recently graduated from with an Upper Second Class Honours (2.1).
Overall, I have 10 years of experience in business intelligence/informatics, five years working in a British Hospital with healthcare data. I have expertise in SQL Server, SSRS, SSIS, PowerBI, QlikView, Tableau, MapInfo, and Excel for data analysis purposes.

Project history

Previous projects include:
Development of Patient Level Information Costing System (PLICS) - analysing patient activity data alongside financial data to derive costings at patient level. This involved creating SSIS ETL packages to pull in a range of data from various sources, pushing the data into the Costings Engine, and finally producing dashboards and reports to present the data.
Deveopment of suite of Care Programme Approach monitoring reports - reports for range of users from senior managers to front line staff, to ensure monthly targets are met.
Data migration project - development of SQL scripts for migrating data from old Clinical Information System to new system

Local Availability

I am mainly looking for remote work, however have some flexibility to travel (depending on the rate of pay).
