Teradata Performance DBA
Saudi Telecom Company
Worked in the capacity of Teradata Performance DBA to analyse and troubleshoot system performance
and then suggest plans to improve efficiency and throughput of the system. Prepared a comprehensive
report which included missing statistics, stale stats, unnecessary stats collection, problem with
multi-column stats collection, tables with no stats, data type mismatch, identified duplicate
objects, highly skewed tables, large tables with no partitions to name a few. Customer highly
appreciated the findings and implemented many recommendation after involving all the stakeholders to
improve system performance over the period of few months.

Senior DBA/Peformance Analyst
Metro
Global retailer Metro is a big retail customer based in Germany and operating in more than 28
countries. I have worked as senior Teradata Database Administrator and performance analyst on this
project. Day to Day activities included Database/User Management, Roles/Rights Management, Space
Management and History Handling and Purging.
Moreover, I have also worked as Performance DBA on this project. Metro did a floor sweep to IFX 2.1
on TD 16.10. This led to some real performance challenges and I was part of the team who resolved
those issues including batch loads, query performance and Spool related problems. In this role, I
have performed Teradata Active System Management (TASM) implementations SLES11. I also did Query
Optimization as well as Workload Management. Moreover, I have used Teradata Workload Analyzer for
the analysis of different workloads. Performance Optimization through physical design is another
area that I am quite familiar with and have hands on experience.
I have implemented Service Improvement Plan on Metro production system which included Statistics
Management (Stale Stats, Missing Stats, Unwanted Stats), identifying Un-used Users and Objects for
security and space management and much more. Moreover, I have worked on Performance Data Collection
and Reporting Tool Kit for the identification of bad performing queries. I have performed Query
Analysis using Index Wizard, Explain Wizard. Moreover, real time performance monitoring was done
using Viewpoint.
Automated serveral tasks using shell scripting, presented monthly DBA service report to the
customer, worked closely with PS/CS colleagues from Teradata, monthly status call with customer.

Punjab Information Technology Board
Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) is semi government autonomous body taking care of 35
different departments of Punjab government. We worked closely for different clients in order to
automate their systems, so that public service delivery could be imporved on a vast scale.
I worked on different projects during my less than 4 years of stay. Revamping and automating Board
of Intermediate and Secondary Educations (BISE) was a very big project that almost took 2.5 years.
In this project I helped in designing whole database under the supervision of Project Manager and
Solution Architect. All the DB related work such as, Database development; DB Administration and
Data maintenance, Database Performance etc. were developed by me with other team fellows, from
design to finishing. I was also engaged in the massive ETLs. Historical data come from different
sources in different formats and then consolidated in single system, for this task various SSIS
packages and complex DB scripts were developed. Back-end support is also provided in terms of Stored
Procedures and Database management during this whole project. Positive social Impact caused by this
project and admitted by current Chief Minister of the Punjab.
Real challenge was to keep the dashboard updated with the latest information which involved complex
joins involving very large tables and complex logic. Query optimization and security management was
one of the biggest challenges in this project.

prepared complete guide to train other junior developers. Wrote many VBA macros and complex SQL
queries and optimized already written SQL procedures and macros. Idea was to parse the Natural
Language Processing (NLP) using Lexical Analyzer (LA). Involved in daily status meeting with the
customer from USA and provided status report.

Nextbridge is on offshore firm providing services to foreign clients mostly from USA, UK, Erupe and
Australia. I was part of the team working for famous food chain SUBWAY. We designed and developed
Subway Accounts System (SAS). It is a product used for generating electronic bills, and to store
information in the database. The billing information can be retrieved, viewed and reprinted. The
stored billing records can be used for tax commutation. SAS also provides inventory/stock
information. Software is designed using .NET 2.0 using VB.NET and SQL Server 2005. It is conversion
of their old legacy application developed in Ingress (DOS based application). My role was to write
the business logic and work in collaboration with DB engineers.
