Skills

Communication
One of my strongest skills is being able to communicate well between business process owners and IT. I have a great foundation of knowledge on what business departments do and work to understand what they really want and translate that into actionable technical terms for IT teams. This skill is thanks to a company called Snap-on Tools that had me chasing down what issues ERP systems users experienced and to translate this into technical terms for IT and of course monitor updates.

Python
Python is also another one of my favorites. I enjoy being well versed in the Pandas library and leveraging PYODBC to get data from external sources, cleaning data and carving up reporting. I have done a lot of this for the healthcare industry, because the volume of data is well beyond anything Microsoft can handle with their applications. I have worked with data extraction where they are well over 5 billion records on tables and this did a great job fine tuning my Python skills, especially with learning how to extract data in chunks.

SQL
3. SQL is of course a favorite of mine as it is the base to get the data we need for reporting and to also house data for an application or complete ERP system. I can write advanced SQL that is dynamic with sub queries and love to use case statements to create calculated fields for outputs. I seldom use data management system query building tools as I find they always lack the ability to write advanced SQL statements.

Alteryx
Alteryx is one of the more modern tools I do have great experience creating ETL packages when there is no need for dynamic programming to grab variables that need to be passed in another SQL statement to a different database system. Alteryx is great with handling large datasets and making a visual presentation for an audience that prefers more than just a script to look at and to see the flow of data to help them make decisions about modifications and if the logic and flow of the program is as intended.

Tableau
Tableau is a very popular report building tool I have become familiar with when an audience want metrics, instead of delving into detail records. This is a great tool for summarizing and providing graphs that highlight trend and the mapping function of Tableau is also very impressive when you need to visualize reporting across a geographic location. If you are not familiar with this, look at John Hopkins College of medicine and their COVID 19 map(https://coronavirus.jhu.edu/map.html). As mentioned above this is great for analytics but the power of Tableau is analytics and not detail reporting.

VBA
Can create full applications in VBA and handle those extensive Excel files or to drive an application in Microsoft Access. Experienced at connecting to external sources via OBBC to pull in data or write to external databases. Some of my projects in this area involve supply management system creation, payroll system creation, analytics for product managers and extensive healthcare analytics development.
