Skills

I have over than 15 years’ experience in IT, the previous five years I have been working in computer vision and projects dedicated to machine learning. These last five years have been the most exciting period in my carrier because artificial intelligence and research work has always enticed to me.
In my professional carrier, I have stronger skills of researching than codding and such tasks as solutions finding, prototyping, creating combinations of algorithms for computer vision and machine learning are my strong side.
I have gained strong skills in computer vision and machine learning area, and the most of my work outcomes have been using in innovative products and applications.  My day-to-day work largely involves programming in Python, including variety python modules and libraries, for example: opencv, scikit-learn, tensorflow, matplotlib, kivy, pyopencl, spyder, etc. I have worked with Matlab, Mathematica and such programming languages as C++, Delphi, Prolog and Lisp.
In 2017, I got certified in Udacity for Machine Learning Engineer Nanodegree and where my capstone project was dedicated to a drone’s automatic landing detection problem. In 2015, defended my Ph.D. thesis at the Faculty of Information Technologies of the Latvia University of Agriculture on the Decision Maker support when solving a optimization problem by using the interactive multi-objective optimization methods. In 2008, I acquired the master’s degree in Information Technologies at the Riga Technical University, the topic of my thesis being application of heuristic search algorithms to solving lessons’ scheduling problem.
As regards computer vision area, I have worked with RGB, Grayscale and IR cameras, also with Intel RealSense technology and OpenCL for algorithms boosting. The main directions of my work in computer vision are: optical flow use for different tasks, e.g. motion detection, object tracking, obstacle avoidance; objects localization, detection and tracking; objects localization by using convolutional neural networks and image segmentation algorithms. I’m skilled for using machine learning and artificial intelligence algorithms – search algorithms, genetic programming algorithm, artificial neural networks, supervised and unsupervised learning, classification, etc.
I have worked on the following different-type problems: face recognition in worst lighting conditions; facial expressions detection (using point cloud) for people with defective facial behavior; microorganisms detection in all possible optic’s depth levels in a microscope sample and a microscope automation control; parallax image generation for micro-lens; pedestrians detection and localization by convolutional neural networks; object detection and real-time tracking in using limited computation resources; obstacle avoidance for drones using optical flow; automatic drone’s landing detection using data from a drone’s IMU; video markup algorithms design for classifying object movements; advanced video markup tool design in Python Kivy framework (Python GUI experience).
