BTGS Solution Design
BT Global Services is a division of British Telecomunication Group. It delivers a combination of
communications and IT services to over 10,000 organisations and governments worldwide. [1] Its
customers include over35% of the global Fortune 500 and it is the largest supplier of networked
IT services in UK and Europe .
BTGS is using Oscar Datawarehouse to leverage its platform for business information gathering .
Solution design is architected to extract relevent information for reporting purpose .


Role : Tech Lead
Responsibliies :
Collecting, understanding, and transmitting the business requirements for the project, and
translating these into detailed development process.
Coordinate with BT solution designers across global BT GS locations to design and develop
technical process and solution to achieve the client business requirement .
Translate the technical design process into application architecture along with a team of
component designers .

creation of schema objects (tables, views, indexes, packages, triggers) in an Oracle9i environment
.
Sql query optimization / performance tuning for data extraction from data warehouse to
datamart .

Business Intelligence - OSCAR Datawarehouse (onsite - London UK )




OSCAR is t-mobile's enterprise datawarehouse system that is used to create datamarts for invoice and
billing purpose . Datamarts consist of an Oracle database that holds several types of call data record (
CDR) information. The different types of call data records are held in separate schema's within the
datamarts developed using OSCAR datawarehouse .

CDRs are loaded (along with other source of data ) into various database tables from network components
via loader programs (input interfaces). CDRs that are held in the tables are analysed and extracted by
PL/SQL packages/scripts, to analyze and summaries information pertaining to business requirement .
Business Objects applications are run on the tables to produce visual reports.
There are several output interfaces in the form of summary report applications. These are Oracle packages
that are called from Korn scripts, which are run usually on a routine basis by crontab entries, in order to
provide summarised results and reports from OSCAR tables that have been loaded with CDRs or log/test
data via the input interface loaders.

The output data is made available to management and revenue assurance staff.

System Analysis and design , conceptual , logical and physical database design .

creation of schema objects (tables, views, indexes, packages, triggers) in an Oracle9i environment .

development of ETL processes (PL/SQL Packages ).

source-to-target mapping and logical structures for the data warehouse/data mart .

Switch Manager is BT's PSTN and ISDN network support system within UK that provides a single point
interface between local and trunk exchanges , maintenance users , administrative users , exchange data
users , system data and other network support system .

SM is continually subject to enhancements to support new ISDN services , regulatory requirements ,
upgrades to exchange builds and growing telecom traffic volumes .


Role : Software Developer




Respnsibilities :
(with a team size of 120 ) was inviolved with the following :
development of various tool for data transfer and migration between different SM interfaces .
development of the system for three transition phases .
development of modules that covers call routing , call diversion and Pbxname generation for exchanges .
Act as a central coordination point for various support activities on Switch Manager .
Building up a very strong customer support and communication structure
