Mega E-Services was a software development firm specializing in CRM applications and IT
Infrastructure management. I was managing the infrastructure division since its inception. As of
2008, Mega E-Services merged its operations with Skenzo (A Directi Company)
Roles and Responsibilities:
* Deployment and management of servers.
* Security hardening of OS, web servers, database servers and applications.
* Client interaction to understand applications needs and provide cost effective solutions for
lowering total cost of ownership.
* Identify and implement new technologies to improve server management operations.
Project: ISP services Management for Software Technology Parks of India from September 2005 till
April 2007
* STPI is a leading Indian ISP providing connectivity to large corporations across India. The
National Internet Exchange of India, also known as NIXI, is hosted at STPI Mumbai, which
provides Internet gateway services for all other Indian ISPs.
* I played a lead role in designing and implementing a stable, secure and a load balanced server
architecture, which led to a major uptime of services.
* Designed and deployed anti-spam Mail Filtering solution using Spamassassin and mail relay
using Qmail and Postfix
* Rebuilt DNS infrastructure using Djbdns with separate authoritative and resolver DNS server
components
* Built and managed Cacti, MRTG, corporate gateway firewall and Proxy Caching with content and
antivirus filtering using Squid and Shorewall.
Project: Server Management and CRM/SCM management for Procter and Gamble from March 2003 till April
2007
* Procter and Gamble is a global FMCG giant. My employer Mega E-Services had been developing
their CRM/SCM applications for projects like Pampers baby club, SK2 lounge, Mediabase, Autoclaims
, Popmats and Fakebusters. I managed these application servers that ran off the Sify data
center in Mumbai.
* The infrastructure comprised of Windows servers running IIS, Jrun, and Microsoft SQL Server
and reporting tools like Microstrategy.
* My achievements include reducing the number of servers by consolidating the OLAP and OLTP
based applications with a minimum downtime migration strategy.
Project: Server Management and SCM deployment for Bayer from October 2005 till April 2007
* Bayer Crop Science is an SCM portal, running on a Linux Server hosted at VSNL Mumbai. The SCM
portal is a Perl based web application with MySQL database server.
* I was involved in deploying, securing and hosting the application code on the servers.
* My other responsibilities included regular auditing of this server and performing various
local and online tests to ascertain the security state of the server.
Project: Server Management and CMS deployment for Indigene Pharmaceuticals from Feb 2006 till Jan
2007
* Indigene is a US based pharmaceutical firm.
* Their corporate and product websites developed using our in-house CMS application runs off a
US based Linux server managed by me. The CMS application is written in Perl and runs off a MySQL
database server.
* I was responsible for deploying their application to our in-house CMS model
Project: Search Engine for ING from July 2006 till October 2006
* ING is a global financial services company.
* Deployed and integrated Lucene for search function on their Investment Management website for
Asia Pacific region.
