New fantastic oppertunity for an assistant finance manager to join a top teir bank in Bristol . The role is within the Insurance Finance - Life, Pensions & Investments (LP&I) Reporting team. Responsibilities centre on the reporting of the financial performance of life assurance and other FSA regulated companies. In particular, they focus on ensuring the accuracy and completeness of the income statement and balance sheet and the interpretation and analysis of the result.WHATS ON OFFER:
LOCATION: BRISTOL
RATE: £350 PER DAY
CONTRACT: 4 MONTHS
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1.Month end journal posting, monthly analytical review and completion of controls. Initiating, leading and performing investigations to ensure that movements in the month end numbers can be explained.
2.Reviewing reconciliations on a monthly basis, understanding the reconciling items and working with other areas to reduce the number of reconciling items.
3.Analysing financial information in order to investigate and explain unusual trends and variances, resolution of queries/issues relating to the general ledger.
4.Undertaking further analysis work upon request and resolving queries relating to financial and statistical information supplied to others, including regulatory and trade bodies.
5.Preparation of quarterly Group reporting, annual statutory accounts and other relevant returns, including taking responsibility for the completion and ownership of specific tasks.
KEY SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Previous financial accounting experience required, while previous experience of working in a Life business or Financial Services role would be an advantage. In particular, it is expected that candidates for this role will have achieved a formal accounting qualification (e.g ACA/ACCA/CIMA).
1.Previous experience with production of financial statements or PRA returns would be an advantage.
2.Willingness to improve understanding of the Insurance business, with a proactive and questioning approach.
3.Strong Excel and analytical skills with the ability to explain financial results in a clear and concise manner.
