My client who are a leading name in the Energy and utilities sector are currently looking for a Cost Engineer to join them.
The Role:
The Cost Control Engineer's role is to take an oversight across a complex portfolio of projects to ensure that Capital Delivery (and National Grid) delivers its RIIO outperformance targets. Where mitigating actions are required, this role will facilitate management decision making at an appropriate level in the organisation.
Experience:
- Proficient knowledge of scheduling tools (preferably Primavera, but not essential)
- Proficient knowledge of earned value management principles, and baselining
- Proficient in the principles of forecasting cost & schedule and risks management
- Understanding of project management and scheduling principles
- Knowledge RIIO delivery outputs & out performance targets
Key Tasks:
- Undertake monthly analysis of projects in terms of cost variance and trending to pin point those projects which need further management intervention
- Work with all stakeholders to ensure cost forecasting is checked and applied consistently
- Attend monthly project review meetings with Delivery Units, challenge and review project status, and to provide an overall programme view
- Provide Earned Value analysis
- Co-ordinate the creation and submission of Changes through the Change Board
- Co-ordinate the implementation of changes into core systems
- Maintain contingency and contingency draw downs
