Mechanical Engineer Instructor-
My Client, a leading Engineering Services company based in Portsmouth is urgently seeking an experience Mechanical Engineer Instructor to join their team until July with the possibility of being taken on as a permanent member of staff. This is a full time role working Monday- Friday.
Purpose of role:
Complete static classroom and workshop based Engineering training for year 1 apprentices in Marine Engineering to complete the PEO units and the Btec qualifications.
Top 4 Major Tasks and Activities:
- Create and maintain an efficient lesson planning strategy
- Prepare and deliver engineering principles to complete the PEO units and Btec awards
- Setting and reviewing progressive training objectives, mentoring, assessment and verification of Diploma programmes with the apprentices in the classroom
Additional Key Accountabilities:
- To instruct and mentor the Apprentices utilising company instructional specifications and assessment procedures, (including testing to achieve the standards required by the awarding bodies)
- Carry out Functional Skills initial and diagnostic assessments as required with the apprentices during induction
- Carry out classroom instruction to complete the Knowledge Related Qualification to the standard laid down by the awarding body
- Ensure all documentation used is accurate, completed on time and fulfils all contractual and statutory obligations and is kept in a safe and secure area and be available for inspection or audit (internal or external)
Essential Skills Required:
- Instructor Qualifications
- Overall QTS person with at least Level 3 NVQ Engineering/indentured apprentice
- Bench engineering
- Milling & turning skills-important
- SC preferable, if not clearable
Attend regular standardisation meetings in line with awarding body criteria and standards as directed by the Contract Manager
Review learners progress in line with the syllabus and contractual requirements.
