Description

KPMG's Partnership Tax Team forms part of the firm's in-house Finance function within the UK. The team is responsible for all aspects of the UK firm's internal tax affairs, covering corporate tax, VAT, employment tax and the personal tax affairs of the partners.

Roles & Responsibilities

The team is currently looking for a contractor to fill the VAT Senior Manager role and take primary responsibility for all aspects of VAT reporting for the UK group. The role is predominantly compliance in nature but will involve an element of advisory.

The scope of the role includes:

  • Reviewing and overseeing completion and submission of approximately 50 compliance returns per year for the UK VAT group and other UK entities, including quarterly VAT returns, EC Sales listings for services and goods, Intrastat trade statistical reports, and MOSS returns.
  • Working with overseas advisors to obtain advice and ensure the accurate filing of overseas indirect tax returns
  • Managing the annual partial exemption review and input tax adjustment.
  • Calculating the annual Capital Goods Scheme adjustment in line with the method agreed with HMRC.
  • Working with other teams to ensure that KPMG UK's systems, processes, procedures and reporting methods remain compliant with current VAT rules.
  • Providing the business with VAT advice via a dedicated internal VAT Helpline
  • Establishing and maintaining a good working relationship with HMRC VAT specialists and other areas of KPMG's partnership tax team.
  • Keeping up to date on relevant VAT tribunal decisions and assessing impact to business and training.
  • Working with senior stakeholders to provide advice on acquisitions or other large transactions

Qualification & Skills:

  • CTA or ACA qualification or equivalent

Experience & Background

  • 6 + years' experience in VAT, either in professional practice, HMRC or an in-house role
  • Highly numerate
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent team working skills, including delegation, managing teams and developing junior staff.
  • Excellent organisational skills are required.
