Sr. Scrum Master
Location: Pittsburgh, PA
Job Summary:
- As a SCRUM Master, one will be part of a diversified financial services firm that reflects the needs, values and goals of our customers, employees, communities and shareholders. Candidate will be responsible for coordination and facilitation between business stakeholder and software engineers.
- Supports and facilitates generally one to two Scrum Teams in various functions by fostering Agile values and practices.
- Ensures team adherence to Agile principles.
- Provides coaching to the Scrum Team(s) on how to execute the Scrum framework.
- Organizes and facilitates ceremonies, identifies improvement opportunities to optimize velocity and quality while mitigating risk.
- Tracks and communicates the overall team progress providing visibility to stakeholders.
- Serves as a filter to remove impediments to progress as identified by the team.
- Protects the team from outside influences to ensure the team remains focused on Scrum Team priorities.
- Partners with the Product Owner to ensure the backlog items are prioritized based on business value and ready for the team.
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in an IT-related field
- Scrum Master Certification - CSM
- 10+ years related experience IT experience
- 3+ years Java/J2EE 5/6/7 experience including JSP, Servlet, JDBC, JNDI, SOA, Web Service/XML technologies, Spring, Hibernate
- Professional experience with Agile project methodologies
- Strong Analytical, Design and Problem solving skills
- Possess an expert and thorough understanding of IT concepts including database concepts structures, software/application development techniques and testing techniques
Soft Skills Needed:
- Ability to own a task by solving problems and following through until completion
- Ability to effectively interact with management, employees, contractors and off-shore developers
- Ability to learn, grasp and maintain a complex technical environment
- Ability to create and test complex build plans
- Ability to incorporate new technology in existing environment
- Ability to define technical tasks and provide estimates and status
- Prior working experience with banking vendor products
- Prior experience working in multi-tiered environments
