Senior Safety Engineer - Tech Author & MASJ

A Senior Safety Engineer with Tech Author & MASJ experience is required to work on a six month contract (with the possibility of extension) for our Defence client based in Cumbria

This is a 6 month contract working with a leading UK defence company.

Overview of the Senior Safety Engineer contract role

You will be required to provide Technical Authoring skills to produce Major Area Safety Justifications (MASJ's) Documents using a prescribed template as well as planning and co-ordination of the MASJ's to the agreed project deliverable time frame. You will also liaise between internal and external stakeholders including engineering, safety, client and project teams, providing identification and collation of spatial safety evidence from across safety and engineering. Organisation and facilitation of Major Area Spatial Safety Assessment (MASSA) Workshops/Meetings is a key part of this role.

Key skills required for the Senior Safety Engineer

  • Proven Safety Analyst and Technical Authoring skills.
  • Skilled knowledge in the use of standard Microsoft packages and submarine specialist packages, as required.
  • Good analytical skills.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Sound knowledge of how submarine systems interact.
  • A working knowledge of submarine spatial arrangement.
  • Experience in identifying and assessing hazards across a wide variety of systems.
  • A broad understanding and appreciation of hazard identification and analysis techniques.
  • The ability to work unsupervised.
  • Personal Organisation & Management.

The role is based in Barrow in Furness, Cumbria - commutable from Carnforth, Milnthorpe, Lancaster, Morecambe, Penrith, Workington, Whitehaven and The Lake District
