Qualified Accountant, Regulatory Reporting, Financial Services

A major custodial bank is looking to appoint a Qualified Accountant to work on regulatory reporting for them in Manchester on an initial 6 month contract.

The Accountant's role is accountable to deliver through effective, efficient Sarbanes-Oxley, regulatory compliant finance processes, in accordance with local and consolidated GAAP, useable, accurate and timely financial information from the point of transaction through to financial close and external reporting period. The individual in this role may be called upon to support a particular line of business, region, or accounting process, as assigned, for any Record to Report process from the point of transaction through to the close, consolidation, and financial reporting of business outcomes for the business. You will provides support for moderately complex end to end) accounting processes required to transform data into information for reporting purposes.

This includes: processing of financial transactions; identifying and analysing exceptions; and providing support for a wide range of activities such as audits, the fulfillment of ad hoc requests, and special project activities. You will prepare and/or posts journal entries for moderately complex general ledger accounts; and reconciles g/l activity to ensure that the trial balance includes expected transactions and reflects the correct balances. Also performs moderately complex accruals, adjustments, reconciliations of accounts or financial data, and any other accounting support operations requested, as assigned.

Responsibilities will include the following:

  • Production of EMEA external regulatory and statistical reporting within prescribed regulatory deadlines.
  • These reporting deadlines have frequencies of daily, monthly, quarterly, half yearly, yearly and ad hoc.
  • Production of internal regulatory reporting for business management and decision making. This includes daily monitoring of internal reports for capital adequacy, liquidity and large exposures, monthly dashboards on capital and liquidity and submissions to the US head office regulatory team.
  • Ensure that processes operate in a controlled environment eg certification, analytical review and checklists are carried out to the required level.
  • Adherence to regulatory governance policies
  • Projects to support the business in its objectives as regards to regulatory reporting and compliance with new regulatory rules and advisory work on business changes and restructures.
  • Advice and education to the business and business partners departments on the impact of new business and new regulatory rules

Other

Stay abreast of legislative and regulatory developments, as well as maintain their knowledge of External Reporting requirements and procedures. Perform other functions as required from time-to-time.

Skills Sought:

  • Qualified Accountant -- ACCA/ACA/CIMA/CPA Full Accreditation or with an equivalent level of experience
  • Regulatory Reporting experience preferable
  • Experience in complex processes with multiple interlinking systems
  • Controls experience essential
  • Significant experience of accounting systems and processes (eg advanced user of excel)
  • Organized and structured working methodology, attention to detail and highly motivated
  • Experience of a fast moving, highly controlled, multi-national/functional organization
